Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has intensified his allegations against Assistant Inspector-General of Police Moshood Olohundare Jimoh, accusing the senior police officer of allegedly participating in a conspiracy to frame businessman Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi in two murder cases linked to land disputes in Lagos.
The activist made the fresh claims in a video released after AIG Jimoh publicly dismissed his accusations and advised anyone interested in the matter to seek answers in court.
Allegations Over Ajiran Murder Cases
The controversy centres on the killings of Sheriff Salami Ishola in 2023 and Prince Ademola Akinloye in 2024, both reportedly linked to disputes within the Ajiran community of Lagos.
Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi, who was declared wanted by police in February 2026 and later arrested abroad through Interpol, is currently standing trial over the murders.
VeryDarkMan alleged that suspects initially arrested in connection with the killings gave statements and video confessions that did not implicate Akanbi.
According to him, later statements naming the businessman were allegedly obtained through torture and intimidation.
He also claimed that one suspect died in custody after being tortured, while another allegedly made false confessions to avoid suffering a similar fate.
The activist further accused AIG Jimoh of conspiring with businessman Aare Bashiru Fakorede to falsely implicate Akanbi over an alleged land and business dispute.
AIG Jimoh Responds
During a recent appearance following a solidarity visit by civil society groups, AIG Jimoh declined to directly address the allegations.
“I won’t stoop so low to respond to VeryDarkMan. If you are concerned about the case, head to the court,” the senior police officer said.
He maintained that the matter should be resolved through the judicial process rather than on social media.
VeryDarkMan Fires Back
Responding to the remarks, VeryDarkMan accused the police chief of avoiding the issues he raised.
“AIG Moshood Jimoh, instead of going on TVC to throw jabs at me and downplay the gravity of this case you allegedly compromised, you should have addressed the allegations against you. But you have no integrity,” he said.
He challenged the police authorities to release what he described as the original video confessions and early statements obtained from suspects, insisting they would expose inconsistencies in the investigation.
Case Still Before the Court
The exchange has generated widespread reactions on social media, with supporters of the activist demanding greater transparency while others have urged all parties to allow the courts determine the facts.
Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi’s trial remains ongoing, while allegations of torture, conspiracy and misconduct have not been proven in court.
The Nigeria Police Force has not issued any detailed public response to the documentary claims presented by VeryDarkMan beyond AIG Jimoh’s earlier remarks.
