86% Pass at Credit Level in 2020 WAEC Examination

The management of West Africa Examination Council(WAEC) released the result for 2020 academic session on Monday 2nd of November. However, according to the press statement released via their official twitter handle, 1, 456, 727 candidates sat for the examination.
Analysis of the press statement revealed out of this figure that sat for the examination, 86.99% passed at five(5)credit level; although, this include passes at credit level with or without English Language and Mathematics. While 65.24% passed at credit level including English Language and Mathematics. This was an increased to that of 2019 which was 65.24%.

Furthermore, the result of 215, 149 candidates representing 13.98% of the total candidates that sat for the examination was withheld. This was in connection with various cases of examination malpractice. Affected candidates will be notified via their various schools.

The council also reported that they recorded no cases of candidates contracting the virus (COVID-19) in the examination hall or dropping dead.
