The Rolls-Royce boat tail is the most expensive car in the world. It cost a whopping $28 Million and was described as a stylistic tour de force by Forbes Magazine 

The car was designed by the company’s specialised coachbuilding division re-interpreting the 1910s Rolls-Royce Ltd Boat Tail car design. The car shares its chassis and engine with the Rolls-Royce Phantom; but has 1,813 bespoke parts, including five electronic control units in the rear deck.

The car features include a parasol that extends from the rear deck deployed by a mechanical system in an inverted manner like a flower, rotating cocktail tables with matching stool seats, a complete set of Christofle tableware and two fridges in a colour scheme to match Armand de Brignac champagne bottles.  The deck is finished in Caleidolegno veneer and hinges towards the centre in a butterfly shape, at an angle of 67 degrees.

Everything about the Rolls-Royce Boat tail screams luxury as it includes a matching pair of men’s and women’s watches manufactured by Bovet Fleurier, a Sound system manufactured by Bose Corporation and a Montblanc pen housed in a hand-crafted case inside the glove box.

Bugatti La Voiture Noire is the second most expensive car in the world, the car which is described as a tribute to Bugatti’s own history manifesto of the Bugatti aesthetic and a piece of automotive haute couture costs a total of $18.7 Million with tax included.

The car is a contemporary remake of the iconic Bugatti Tyle 57SC Atlantic. It’s powered by an 8.0 litre, 16-cylinder quad-turbo engine, that can effortlessly churn out power to match 1500-1600 horsepower,  with six exhaust pipes at the rear. It boasts of a top speed of 261mph, and 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds

The ‘La Voiture Noire’ is crafted out of carbon fibre, an extremely exotic material and comes with a profound manufacturing procedure. Sharing similar structural integrity to a diamond, it’s ultra-lightweight, stronger than steel and finished with a deep black gloss that shows the material’s weave, a sparse amount of chrome trim breaks up the darkness.

Taking third place among the most expensive cars in the World is Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta, a supercar which is sold for $17 Million. It was unveiled at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance as a present to the company’s founder, Horacio Pagani for his 60th birthday as well as to commemorate the 18th anniversary of the Zonda.

The car is powered by an AMG-built 7.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 M297 engine, derived from the AMG M120. Its output is 790 horsepower, which tops the car out at 221 mph and makes it the fastest and most powerful Zonda ever made.

It has unique exterior design cues which makes it different from other Zondas produced with the most distinguishable features being the Barchetta body style and rear wheel covers inspired by group C race cars, making it the first Pagani to ever use this styling. It also has a rear spoiler, air intakes and rear lights taken from the 760 series cars.

So far, only three HP Barchettas have been made, thus it is one of the rarest cars in existence.  The cars aren’t limited to three units but are built to order.

Roll Royce makes the list again with its 2017 Sweptail model, which reportedly cost $13 Million, taking 4th place among the most expensive cars in the world.

The car was a one-off large luxury car made in the United Kingdom, it was based on the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé and was hand-built for over four years Giles Taylor, former director of design at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars described the vehicle as “the automotive equivalent of Haute couture”.

The car’s major feature is the single-piece glass roof that tapers into the car’s fastback rear end. The front grille of the car is also unique by itself and is the largest fitted to any modern-era Rolls Royce giving it a distinct look. It’s milled from a single piece of aluminium and hand-polished to give it a mirror shine. On the rear end is the “swept-tail” that gives the car its name. Rolls-Royce is yet to release the technical specs of the car, but it’s believed to be based on the current-generation Phantom platform.

Bugatti Centodieci, a limited production mid-engine sports car worth $9 Million takes fifth place among the most expensive cars in the world.  The car is a homage to the Bugatti EB110 and a celebration of the Bugatti marque’s 110th birthday. It is powered by an 8,000 cc quad-turbocharged W16 engine, rated at 1,578hp.

The car design was based on the 1991 Bugatti EB110, which feature includes, a five-round air intake, a wedge-shaped design language and a small horseshoe radiator grille.  The rear consists of eight tail lights along with matt-black quad exhaust pipes placed on either side of a large diffuser, complete with an underbody spoiler and a fixed overhanging rear wing.

The Centodieci is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.4 seconds, 0-200 km/h (124 mph) in 6.1 seconds and 0-300 km/h (186 mph) in 13.1 seconds with a top speed electronically limited to 380 km/h (240 mph).

Only 10 units of the Centodieci will be produced. The Centodieci will be hand-built in Bugatti’s Molsheim factory and deliveries to customers will start in 2021.

Mercedes Benz joins the list with its Maybach Exelero which reportedly cost $8 million, putting it in sixth place among the most expensive car in the World.

The Maybach Exelero is a one-off high-performance sports car unveiled at the Tempodrom in Berlin in 2005. It was the second vehicle to serve as a one-off show car for Fulda’s high-performance tire range.

The car is powered by a V-12 twin-turbo engine that produces 725 pounds of torque at 2500 RPM. The engine, mounted at sixty degrees, incorporates 12 valves with 3 cylinders each. Exelero boasts a top speed of 218mph and can accelerate from 0 to 62mhp in just 4.4 seconds.

The interior of the car is embellished with dark and red leather, neoprene, and glossy black carbon fibre, while the exterior is painted black and has a long hood, chrome grill and fuel cap. The car was reportedly purchased by rapper Birdman in 2011

Spyros Panopoulos is a new name in the world of Supercars, but the brand’s 2,000-horsepower, $6.4-million, aptly named Chaos has already made an impact.

Powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V10, gasoline engine producing up to 3,065 HP for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) run in as low as 1.55 seconds, a quarter-mile sprint in 7.5 seconds, and a top speed in excess of 500 km/h (+310 mph).

SP Automotive Chaos is one of the most expensive cars in the world.  A costlier version of this brand was recently revealed, the version reportedly packs 3,000 hp and costs an eye-watering $14.4 million.

Bugatti makes the list again with its 2019 Divo model, the car is named after French racing driver Albert Divo. It cost $5.9 Million, taking the eighth place among the most expensive cars in the world

The car generates 456kg downforce at the top speed. The extra drag produced by the aerodynamic elements has reduced the top speed of Divo to 236mhp, 25mph lower than Chiron’s. With 1500 horsepower, Divo accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 2.4 seconds.

The car’s exterior design includes a redesigned exhaust system featuring quad exhaust pipes, a 1.8 metre wide fixed rear wing, a NACA duct on the roof that channels air to the rear of the car on a central fin and ultimately on the rear wing for improved downforce, a large front chin spoiler, more refined side skirts, larger air intakes on the front, new headlamps and tail lamps, a vent in the bonnet for improved radiator cooling and vents on the front wheel arches to cool the brakes.

The interior in the Divo is relatively similar to the more luxurious Chiron but has Alcantara upholstery and carbon-fibre trim in order to save weight. The production is limited to 40 units, all of which were pre-sold before the public debut.

The Italian sports car manufacturer Pagani makes the list again with its Pagani Huayra Imola which cost a whopping $5.4  million taking ninth place among the most expensive cars in the world.

The Imola is named after the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari (Imola Circuit), where it underwent 16,000km of high-speed testing. It is powered by a twin-turbo 6.0-litre V12 engine specifically for Pagani. The engine pumps a magnificent 827 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque.

Some of the spectacular features of the car include a large seven-section diffuser, a large roof scoop, more definite side skirts, a shark fin, and integrated spotlights. The gargantuan wing installed at the back of the car makes it look more aggressive. Only five units of the cars have been produced.

10. Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita

Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita concludes the list, with a price of $4.8 Million. Only 2 units of the car were made and one was owned by boxer Floyd Mayweather until it was sold in 2017 for 2.6 million dollars.

One of the unique features of the car is its Shimmering Diamond Weave bodywork, twin-deck carbon fibre rear wing, Inconel exhaust system, carbon-ceramic brakes with ABS, airbags, F1 paddle-shift gearbox, Chrono instrument cluster, infotainment system, tire monitoring system and a hydraulic lifting system.

Initially, three CCXR Trevitas were planned to be produced, however, because of the complexity to make the special diamond weave carbon fibre, only 2 were ever made, making it one of the rarest vehicles manufactured by Koenigsegg.
