Who is Yugyeom?

Kim Yugyeom also known only as Yugyeom is a famous South Korean singer and rapper exponent of the K-Pop genre who in 2021 began his solo career combining it with his group GOT7 of which he is a member. Yugyeom was born on November 17, 1997 in Namyangju, South Korea and is currently considered one of the best singers and rappers in his entire country.

Beginnings in Yugyeom’s life

Kim Yugyeom, known in the world of music entertainment only as Yugyeom (also often nicknamed as: ” Giant Baby, Gyeomie, Giant Maknae, Browny, Kyum, Bunny, or Gyeomdoong “), came into the world on November 17 of the year of 1997 in Seoul, South Korea He himself has commented that his mother got pregnant in Saudi Arabia, although he was born in the capital city of Seoul, however, due to his father’s work, his family returned to live in Saudi Arabia for a while, for a time in his life he grew up there.

From an early age Yugyeom  was interested in show business, particularly the discipline of dance. So seeing this great vocation, his parents took him to NY Dance Studios. This is how later in his life he ended up winning second place in the competition called Casa Adrenaline Dance Battle back in 2011, during those years he declared that his motto would be: “I will continue dancing with the people I like, until I die, until I run out of energy.”

Regarding his personality,  Yugyeom has defined himself as someone who creates strong bonds of friendship and loyalty, this is how one of his most precious possessions is a bracelet that has several black symbols of love and peace; Jackson, another member of the musical group to which he belongs, has one just like it, since it is a friendship gift that both received from Yugyeom’s personal assistant.

Yugyeom  loves  to watch animated series, one of his favorites being the one known as “The Moomins”, where the protagonist, named Moomin, is one of the stuffed animals that his followers give him the most. The now famous K-Pop singer Yugyeom  completed his academic studies at Donong Elementary School, and Migeum Middle School. Time in which he put special interest in learning languages, so that currently he dominates, in addition to his mother tongue: Korean, the languages: Japanese, English and Spanish.

The beginnings of his artistic career occurred when Yugyeom  made the decision to enroll in a dance school called Hanlim Multi Art School when he was in the seventh grade of his studies, he specialized in the genres “Street dance”, “hip hop” and ” house”.

Later  Yugyeom entered Taekyung University to specialize in modeling, that’s when the doors were opened for him to attend a JYP Entertainent audition, where he would stay as a trainee for a period of 3 years. This is how she made her pre-debut on the Mnet survival reality show WIN: Who is next, alongside Mark, Jackson, and  BamBam , which aired on September 6. A short time later, Yugyeom made his official debut in the group of the k-pop genre known as GOT7 on the date of January 16, 2014. Later, in 2016, Yugyeom  was part of the dance contest team whose organization was in charge of Mnet and was called Hit the Stage, in which he emerged victorious with first place with a score of 163, thus making a show of his abilities as a choreographer and dancer, he was also on the small screen with the programs called: TWICE Private Life, The Show, and M! Countdown. We cannot ignore the fact that this same year he collaborated on Street Dance at SBS Gayo Daejun 2016 with other prominent artists of the k-pop musical genre.

We cannot leave aside that it was also this year when he stood out for the composition of the songs that were known under the titles of: “See the light” and “No Jam”.

The following year, in 2017  Yugyeom composed “Let me know”, “Don’t Care” and “To me”. While in 2018 he added to his artistic career the songs of “Us”, “No one else”, “Fine” and “From Now”. In the same way we are aware that he was on the M! Countdown, a year later , the singer Yugyeom made a trip to the Mariana Islands to participate in the recording of the reality show known as Law The Jungle, being the fourth member of GOT7 to go there.

In February 2019, it was announced that Yugyeom would be part of GOT7’s second sub-unit JUS2 along with GOT7’s JB  who finally debuted on March 5 with their first mini album FOCUS, achieving media success.

Soon after,  Yugyeom  participated in the television show known as Hello Counselor in episode 414 alongside BamBam . On the other hand, he was the composer of “25”, “Long Black” (for the musical group JUS2), “1º” and “Crash & Burn”. So, among the most recent news that we have about Yugyeom ‘s path to fame, we must point out that in the past year 2020 he composed the songs for “Poison” and “Thank You, Sorry”, in addition to being on the variety show known under the title of MBC King of Mask Singer, particularly in episode 257 with the character of “Korean Blackberry”.

In the middle of 2021 it was announced that the K-pop group had terminated their contract with the JYP agency, with which it could be understood that  GOT7 had come to an end,  so its members began their solo career, but rumors about their return they did not stop ringing. Since it was announced that they had not been considered by their agency to renew their contract and continue releasing more music as a musical group, the future of the group remained uncertain, although they promised to continue promoting as a group and meet their fans again.

Yugyeom starts his solo career

It was in 2021 when Yugyeom  signed a contract with the record company called AOMG, which represents an independent record label in South Korea, which is under the direction of DJ Pumkin and Jay Park. What we know about this company is that it is based on the “bboy crew” AOM (whose acronym stands for Art of Movement) from Seattle, Washington, United States; Despite being a small agency, it has great aspirations, and they are dedicated to making music, holding concerts internationally, scheduling tours, designing merchandise such as clothing, graphics, and their visual content is original. Its name, AOMG means “Above Ordinary Music Group”, which in Spanish means “Above the Ordinary Music Group”.

Already supported by AOMG , GOT7 member YuGyeom dove deep into his emotions in his first solo single titled ‘I Want U Around’ , a song in which he collaborated with labelmate and hip-hop soloist DeVita. YuGyeom ‘s theme song and with which he began a new stage in his life now as an independent singer was produced by GRAY, the track is a trap and R&B song that served as a preview of his upcoming debut EP that was finally named “Point Of View: U” released on June 17, 2021 to great success on all streaming music platforms.
