Who is Robot?

Kevin Ramón Gutiérrez Jauregui , better known as Robot, is an exponent singer of the Latin rap genre who has stood out with hits such as Love & Money, Rompecorazones, Tú y satanás, Mariguana y Tequila, By my own, among others. Robot was born in Mexicali , Baja California on February 7, 1995 and is currently one of the most famous singers in the hip hop culture in Mexico.

Beginnings in the life of Robot

MC Robot is a Latino rapper from Mexicali, Baja California who from a very young age knew that when he grew up he would dedicate himself to music because all his life he saw in the streets how many boys did street rap and that was something he loved.Whenever he had the opportunity , Robot showed either to his friends or strangers that he had great potential for music as he faced freestyle battles where he almost always emerged victorious even with someone who was already older and more experienced than him.
In his environment he was influenced by rap music all the time and he listened a lot to great exponents of the genre in English such as Nelly, Snoop, Shaggy, Dr. Dre, Outkast with whom little by little his taste for the rap style began to grow in him and as if that were not enough, the fact that he knew how to play the piano and the guitar were essential for him to be able to make his first compositions.Robot wrote songs daily because it was something he really enjoyed but at the same time he had to combine his passion for music to finish his degree in International Business but there came a point where he decided to leave everything for music and Robot was born .

Why is it called Robot?

Robot is a nickname that Kevin Ramón Gutiérrez Jauregui decided to use. He was born when he lived in Mexicali, one day when he was with his friends they were all taking crooked steps and he told his friends that he felt like a robot because while all the people were studying and he worked he was on his own so his friends decided to nickname him Robot which he later chose as his stage name.

Trajectory and history of Robot

Among the first songs that began to be known about Robot were Yoyo, Sentimientos editados, Camino Morado, Robot humano, Hotcakes , among others, but without a doubt the song that was most successful in its beginnings was Rosa María . When his career began to have a greater international projection, he decided to move to the city of Guadalajara, Mexico, where he met several renowned artists, forming a project and group called West Gold together with the rapper Poofer and the KingZoo duo, thus combining two facets, both being a member of a band like being a solo singer calling himself Robot .Robot’s musical style is characterized by the use of soft beats that are inspired by 90’s West Coast rap , with quite, raw, direct and avant-garde lyrics but always maintaining a unique and fresh style within the rap scene in Mexico and all of it. Latin America, which is why many singers have decided to record songs with him. “I define it in a simple way: my style is the street in its most elegant form” , being with these words how Robot defines himself and his musical style.The first album that the singer released was titled ” 1995 ” which was a complete success and featured some songs that many people liked, such as “Same day again, I don’t turn back, Red Feather, Without knowing why, Snakes in the patio, Sol, Dice que, El espejo y yo, Chocolate y Tú o satanás” , which ended up becoming a tremendous musical hit and one of his most remembered songs throughout his artistic career.

It was in 2016 when the singer felt that he was a bit lost within the music scene because having collaborated with so many great exponents of music such as Charles ANS, Hispana, Gera MXM from one moment to the next, musical opportunities no longer began to appear. and he thought his career was in decline, but a few weeks later Robot, Poofer, iQlover and Jarabe Kid were in his studio to give West Gold a definitive shape, which in a short time became one of the most prominent rap groups in Mexico. “It was only a matter of time to make chemistry and start thinking about an album with the artists that were there. When we got there, things got really nice ,” Robot commented on the creation of West Gold .
Robot created the album Bugambilias , a compilation of the singles he had put together after his first album 1995 , and his debut EP Rosa María . The singles “ Lo sabe ”, “ Cuentas claras ”, “ Wake & Bake ”, “ Llamadas perdidas ”, “ High so high ” and “ Tú o satanás ” followed, ensuring at the end of 2016 the next release of his album White Chocolate .

In 2017 Robot  gave a statement that unleashed a wave of criticism because he accepted that he consumed drugs in his daily life and although many of his loyal followers and fans did not see him with bad eyes, others on the contrary accused him of promoting their consumption because despite After all, there were many young people who followed him. “After a day of making music and more music, I usually smoke weed on my rooftop and just think about my plans for the future. My normal day itself is to wake up, go to the studio, smoke, make music, go back to rest and go back to the studio the next day praying that this works everywhere”, were the words of the singer Robot.At the end of 2017, he released the single ” No salsa ” in collaboration with P.FLXWS and produced by Osaka. Before this premiere and single, the singer Robot commented on how the process was and how much he liked creating this piece of music with his friend. “It was so fun and crazy. I had a very good connection with Pablo and what came out was something that we both liked a lot. I am very happy to have done it and to have met someone firm in this business”.The following year he continued to release more music that consolidated him as one of the greats on the international music scene and he created a short series on YouTube called “ Robotrip ” in which people could see a little more about his life outside the stage. In July 2019, he released his album ” White Chocolate ” which included some songs such as “Rosa María II, Run Run, Ro-Bob, You know, From dogs to wolves II, Unfinished business, Tell me, At slow speed, Hye Love, Mommy hayque bailar, Skit, Llamadas perdidas, Como es y Encandilao” in collaboration with ReisBelico, among other songs.In August 2019, almost to end the year, the singer  Robot appeared at the MTV Push event along with the best Latin American rap and hip hop talents such as Akapellah, Aczino  and West Gold. At the same time, he released the album ” José Ramón “, on the day of the release of his album, the singer commented: “Thank you for everything this year, I thank my closest ones, I do not need to name them for continuing in my falls and in my flights.” The album was named after José Ramón in honor of Robot’s father.In his long artistic career, the singer Robot , thanks to his peculiar style of music and voice, has been invited to collaborate with other great exponents of international music such as Simpson Ahuevo , Go Golden Junk, Quintana, Gnavo, King Zoo, among others.
