Who are  Mamamoo?

Mamamoo is a South Korean female musical group exponent of the K-Pop genre made up of four girls: Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein and Hwasa who throughout their career have achieved great musical successes such as Where Are We Now, HIP, AYA, Dingga, Egotistic, among others. Mamamoo officially debuted on June 18, 2014 with the song “Mr. Ambiguous” and has since been ranked as one of the top K-pop music groups worldwide.

Beginnings of Mamamoo

Mamammo is a musical group of the K-pop genre that carries the Rainbow Bridge World company record label,  its members respond to the names of: Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein and Hwasa; His official debut took place on the date of June 18, 2014 with the song that was known under the title “Mr. Ambiguous”, thanks to which they were considered the best K-pop group of that year.

But their story began when they made their first collaboration with the song called “Don’t be happy” with Bumkey. Soon after , Mamamoo  collaborated with K.Will on the song known as “Peppermint Chocolate”, and later they announced their collaboration with the rap duo called Geeks, with the song titled “Hi Hi Ha”.

In this way we have that the year 2014 was very productive for Mamammo, since in addition to “Mr. Ambiguous”, they released their first mini album which was known as Hello, while the music video for “Mr. Ambiguous” featured brief appearances by many K-pop stars such as CNBLUE’s Jonghyun, Wheesung, Baek Ji, Jung Joon Young, K.Will, Brand New Music’s Rhymer, and Bumkey, no doubt a big hit for  Mamamoo.

We must point out that this album contained both new and unreleased songs as well as songs in which they had previously shown their musical talent by collaborating with other artists. As for the members of  Mamamoo , we have that Kim Yong-sun, who is known by the stage name of Solar, was born on February 21, 1991 in Seoul, South Korea. She is the vocalist and leader of the band. She is also credited with a career as an actress with appearances on Imaginary Cat and the television show We Got Married.

For her part, Moon Byul-yi, artistically known as Moonbyul, was born on December 22, 1992 in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. She has also dabbled in show business as an actress in Start Love and Idol Drama Operation Team and being one of  Mamamoo’s most beloved.

We cannot forget Jung Whee-in, who we know better as Wheein, who was born on April 17, 1995 in Jeonju, North Jeolla, South Korea. She works as one of the vocalists of the musical group, of course we have Ahn Hye-jin, who came into the world on July 23, 1995, and who has adopted the stage name of Hwasa, her position in the group Mamamoo  is a rapper, vocalist, and maknae.

It was also in 2014 when Mamamoo  made their appearance on the live show called M! Countdown. Shortly after, for the month of July, the musical group Mamammo released its first original soundtrack which they titled “Love Lane”, which was used for the Korean drama called Marriage, Not Dating.

Subsequently, on November 21, the Mamamoo  girls released what was their second mini album known as Piano Man, whose most successful song was the single of the same name. We have to point out that the song “Piano Man” won first place on the Gaon Digital Chart, and towards the end of that year,  Mamamoo was ranked number 10 among all-girl k-pop music groups. more had sold digitally.

The following year, in 2015, in the month of January, Mamamoo performed the theme song “Wait a minute” on the music program Immortal Songs 2, a contest in which they reached the final round but were defeated by Kim Kyung Ho.

On April 2 of this same year , the members of Mamamoo  released the single “Ahh Oop!” to the public, which was the first song of what would be their third mini album called Pink Funky, which they released on the date of June 19 and whose most successful song was the titled “Um Oh Ah Yeh”, which thanks to its success managed to be in third place on the Gaon Chart. By August 23,  Mamamooheld their first fan meeting, which event was dubbed the “1st Moo Party” at Olympic Park in Seoul. Later they carried out another “Moo Party”, this time in the city of Los Angeles, United States, on October 4, we cannot ignore the fact that this year they once again participated in the televised contest of Immortal Songs 2 with the Tracks: “Delilah” (song that was composed by Jo Young Nam), and “Backwoods Mountain” (from Bae Ho’s composition).

A short time later, in 2016, they pre-released a ballad that became known as “I Miss You”, then Mamamoo  released the song “1cm/Taller than You”, which came with a music video. While the full album was officially released on February 26, occupying number 3 on the Gaon Music Chart, it was also the track titled “You’re the Best” that went to number 3 in just one week. one of said list, after initially being in third position.

Later, on the date of March 6, Mamamoo  were victorious on Inkigayo with the single “You’re the Best”, which was followed by triumphs on M! Countdown, and Music Bank, as well as other music quiz shows broadcast on television. It is also to our knowledge that the album Melting was ranked eighth on Billboard’s World Albums Chart.

The following year, in 2018,  Mamamoo released the song “Paint Me” to the public, which was the prelude to a project that would be titled “Four Seasons”, and whose main objective was to show four albums in the that each one be distinguished with a color and a characteristic for each singer for each season. We must mention that in various interviews they stated that they wanted to show a more mature musical style in this project.

Subsequently, on March 7, 2018,  Mamamoo released their sixth EP, which they gave the title of Yellow Flower with the lead single “Starry Night”, a song that managed to rank sixth on the Gaon Digital Chart. . While on July 11 they announced their third concert titled “2018  Mamamoo Concert 4 Seasons S/S” at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium in Seoul, which took place between the dates of August 18 and 19.

A little later, on July 16, they released their seventh EP Red Moon, which they promoted with the song “Egotistic”. We have to mention that in the first week of its release, the album reached fourth place on the Billboard World Albums chart with 1000 copies, reaching 3rd place on the Gaon Album Chart. We cannot ignore the fact that  Mamamoo made her first appearance on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart at this time, reaching number 25.

Later, on the date of October 3, 2018, they published what was the first single from their debut album in Japan. Over the next year, in 2019, they released the White Wind album to the public. So among the most recent news we have from the musical group  Mamamoo is that in the past year 2020 they released the album Travel; while in mid-2021 they released the album called WAW.
