Juan Fernando Fonseca Carrera, artistically known as Fonseca , is a Colombian singer-songwriter, born in Bogotá on May 29, 1979, the son of Ana Marcela Carrera and brother of Alejandro Fonseca.
The singer-songwriter had his first approaches to music at school when he formed a rock band called Nash, he also comments that in the last year of school he made the decision to formally dedicate himself to music after recording at home and with the help of the professor of music an album with four previously unpublished songs and six covers; In that same year, he also decided to use “Fonseca” as a name for his musical career after teachers and classmates always called him that.
Fonseca ventured into the professional artistic field for the first time in 2002 with his self-titled album, with which he received a great reception from the public and radio exposure in his native Colombia, due to the mix of happy and somewhat folkloric rhythms.

Three years after the release of his first album, 2005, Fonseca signs with the transnational EMI Music Colombia and brings to light his next musical proposal, Corazón; Placing great songs such as Te mando flores, which became her first international success and remained in position one on the radio for more than 22 consecutive weeks. It was followed by other singles such as A long time ago and How he looks at me.
Thanks to the single Te mando flores, Fonseca won a Latin Grammy for “Best Tropical Song” in 2006; he was also awarded “Best New Tropical Artist” by Premios Lo Nuestro and Premios MTV Latinoamérica.
