Who is Ca7riel?

Catriel Guerreiro Fernandez Peñaloza , better known as Ca7riel, is a famous Argentine freestyler, singer and composer, an exponent of the rap and trap genre with musical hits such as Polvo, Cono hielo, McFly, A mi no, among others. Ca7riel was born on December 5, 1993 in Coronel Pringles, Buenos Aires Argentina and along with having a career as a soloist, he also forms a duo with  Paco Amoroso .

Beginnings in the life of Ca7riel

Catriel Guerreiro Fernández Peñaloza, better known by the stage name of Ca7riel in the world of musical entertainment, was born on December 5, 1993 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We are aware that he comes from a family of artisans. His father was a guitarist and belonged to a band known as El Tinto Mandamiento. Catriel’s childhood was divided into two places: Pringles and La Paternal in Buenos Aires.

When he was studying in elementary school, the now famous Ca7riel  met Ulises Guerreiro, who would become his great friend. Later he began his secondary studies at the Juan Pedro Esnaola Higher School of Artistic Education in Music, where he would leave as faculty to teach music classes. It would be in this period of his life, when he would use his father’s guitar to play songs by bands of the musical genre known as metal, such as Pantera, Megadeth and Steve Vai. In the same way we have news that he worked as a loaner and was in some cover bands.

Back in 2011 , Ca7riel formed the band known as Astor y las Flores de Marte , which had among its members: Ulises Guerreiro as drummer, Alan Alonso as vocals, also in charge of guitars and samples, Felipe Brandy also in voice and in charge of the bass instrument, and of course Catriel. At this time he had a style of music that was between reggae, funk and progressive rock, the influence of Charly García and Luis Alberto Spindetta being notorious.

During the time in which he belonged to the band Astor y Las Flores de Marte,  Ca7riel went through a period of financial need, and it was thus that he began to venture into the freestyle genre , encouraged by a childhood friend who helped him in his first steps in rap.

Ca7riel was in the freestyle competition known as El Quinto Escalón, although he did not have very good results. However, he did not give up, and decided to set up a studio in his home, where he recorded what would be his first demos, and it was at that time that the stage name by which we now know him arose: Ca7riel, created as a rapper alter ego. .

In 2015, Ca7riel released what would be his first record in the hip hop genre, known as Cve7e , where a clear departure from the style of the band Astor y Las Flores de Marte was noted .

A little later, around 2017, Ca7riel  would launch, together with Astor and Las Flores de Marte, the album known as Vacaciones todo lo año. This musical band would have an existence of 7 years and at the same time that he was a member of Astor and Las Flores de Marte, Catriel began to stand out in freestyle and officially with the stage name of Ca7riel .

For the year 2018 Ca7riel  released the EPs titled Povre and Livre  and we cannot ignore the fact that it would also be during this year when he would do a duet with the artist known by the name of Paco Amoroso , together with whom he performed the songs of: Piola , Not me, and Jala Jala.

While the following year, in 2019, Ca7riel  also made known to the ears of the public together with Paco Amoroso the songs titled as: Ouke, Ola Mina XD, My shadow, and With ice . We cannot ignore the artistic career of Ca7riel , who was the guitarist for rapper Wos until 2019, where he would later stand out in the song “Fobia” along with  Juan Ingaramo and Dakillah .

In December 2019, Ca7riel  had the great opportunity to sing a freestyle with the world famous producer Bizarrap, BZRP, who by then had become very famous on YouTube for the collaborations he had made with other exponents of Latin rap and trap. Bizarrap released the song  CA7RIEL || BZRP Music Sessions #14 and that was how the singer joined a long list of great singers who had been lucky enough to sing with BZRP  such as L-Gante ,  Snow Tha Product ,  Aczino ,  Polimá WestCoast , Bhavi , Pequeño77 , Frijo ,Nicki Nicole , Alemán , Trueno , John C , Dani , Louta , Lucho SSJ , Seven Kayne  among others. Just one day after its premiere, the BZRP song together with Ca7riel  achieved almost 3 million views and in just one month it had exceeded 10 million. 

In 2020 Ca7riel  stood out as a soloist with the singles known under the titles of Polvo and I rili don’t care, being that in the latter he made a duet with Chita,  Ca7riel  has also stood out for adapting well to the circumstances, and has stood out both in the music as in some small spaces of the performance. Regarding this last topic, the artist refers that:

“I love video game skins. When I was a kid, my mother couldn’t give me many skins, so now I love dressing up for every situation, show or video… When they talk to me about “the scene” I imagine a scenario where everyone chooses a character. I feel that I can do whatever I want: I can change my skin to go unnoticed, to feel more secure, or even have one to make the other person feel set sail, to bother, to stun. But the skin is how others see you: the powers are always the same.”

However, not everything has been hunky-dory in Ca7riel’s artistic career , as both he and Paco Amoroso have also been negatively accused of being opportunists in the world of music , because they have achieved their fame by taking advantage of that the genres of trap and hip hop were in fashion, however both artists have spoken about it, as far as Ca7riel  is concerned , the artist explains very sincerely that he did take advantage of the moment, but not because he wanted to become a internationally famous, but because he is like that in all aspects of his life: when he is presented with an opportunity, he does not think twice and take it.

When the COVID pandemic reached the world, Ca7riel confessed that he was “going crazy” because of the confinement but that he was finally able to see it in a different way;“The truth, before the quarantine I was going crazy. It is very strong to walk down the street and that all the time they are reminding you of who you are. “Hey, you’re Ca7riel, photo, kiss.” At one point I get it: if someone is seeing your face on Instagram every day, it makes sense that they see you on the street and want to throw a pokeball at you and capture you for a photo. It’s half Pokemon GO, it’s very intense, and it makes you feel as accompanied as alone… After a very euphoric year, I put my feet on the ground, I put down roots a bit. I have my own apartment. I mean, I rent, but the same: before I didn’t sleep in the same bed every night, I was very nomadic and that was very crazy to my mind.”

In mid-2021  Duki released his record material called “From the end of the world”, with which “he was looking to deconstruct trap and get out of monotony”. His successful second work incorporated a fresher sound but highlighted that he included great music stars to create that incredible album such as Khea , Pablo Chill-e, Bizarrap , Mesita , Ysy A , Lara 91K, Ca7riel , Young Cister, Pekeño77 , Farina, Lucho SSJ , Tobi, Neo Pistea , Julianno Sosa, Franux BB and 44 Kid.
