Beginnings and history of the youth group Jeans

The JNS group, formerly Jeans, is a band of Mexican pop music girls formed in Mexico City in 1994 at the initiative of one of its members Paty Sirvent , a band that in its beginnings was made up of the aforementioned, Angie Taddei,  Litzy , Tábatha Vizuet and Bianca Carrasc o, the group of girls without a record under their arm launched into the adventure in charge of one of the parents of one of the girls, Mr. Alejandro Sirvent, who was looking for spaces for them to perform. Thanks to Bianca’s father, the group got a record deal, as her father was an executive at Sony Music Entertainment. They recorded some songs like “Me Put My Jeans” and “Truku Traka”, and even a music video for the latter. However, due to differences between Sirvent, Paty Sirvent ‘s father  and Sony Music executives, in March 1995, the contract was canceled and for obvious reasons Bianca left the group.

It was the following year, 1995, when the Jeans managed to debut with their first self-titled studio album, under the EMI Music label and produced by Carlos Lara . However, the group would see its release until the end of 1996. The first single was ” Pepe “, which came out on October 7 of that same year, and the second, ” Me Pongo Mis Jeans “, came out in the spring of 1997. The album was published on the same dates and managed to sell more than 80,000 copies.

But as is well known, Litzy  abandoned the girls in May 1997 due to the problems that existed between Luis Domínguez, her father, and Alejandro Sirvent due to the way he handled the group and especially his daughter, a lot began. to rumor that there was verbal abuse by Sirvent to the girls. In August, after a casting was done by EMI, Melissa López was hired and made her first appearance during a concert in Puebla that same month. They would not count on the fact that the following month it was now Tabatha Vizuet who also left the group, claiming that she was no longer happy with the project, and arguing problems with the other members, especially with the parents of Paty Sirvent .

This situation triggered strong rumors in the Mexican press that the group would disappear. However, in October of that same year (1997), Karla Díaz-Leal Arreguín joined the group and made its first presentation in November 1997 during a radio festival.

In February 1998, Jeans released his second album called ¿Por qué dissimulate? , which was recorded in Spain between November 1997 and January 1998. The first single released was “Enferma De Amor” , the second, “Estoy Por Él” , the third, “La Ilusión Del Primer Amor” , being fourth, “It can’t be” . This album became one of the most emblematic and successful of the group, as it was the only one that managed to be certified as a gold record by AMPROFON.

In June 1999, Jeans faced her third leaving daughter, Melissa Lopez ; This news caused surprise among the fans of the group since Melissa’s statements did not convince her, since she claimed that she wanted to spend more time with her family and friends. However, years later, in 2002, she revealed that her decision had been made because she received mistreatment from her colleagues, especially Angie and the group’s personal manager, Patricia Bartón. After the unexpected departure of Melissa, she entered the quite in July 1999, Regina Murguía , 13 years old, from Morelia, Michoacán. Regina had already carried out tests to belong to Jeans after the departure of Tábatha, but she was not accepted as a substitute because she was too young. Already with Regina integrated, the girl group continued with the pending presentations on radio and television.

At the beginning of the year 2000, there was an important change in the group’s style when their third studio album titled Tr3s was published , as the group renewed its image and began promoting the album, which was recorded in the summer of 1999. During When recording this material, Melissa was in the process of leaving the group , so only the voices of the other three members were initially included. These sessions with  Paty Sirvent , Karla and Angie took place in Spain during May and June. Upon joining, Regina Murguía worked on the part of her recording in Mexico and the album was complete. “ Tr3s ” was officially published in November 1999 and had as singles“Tell me you love me”, “I only live for you”, “I die for you” and “I will escape with you” . The disc included an interactive track with computer games. With this album, the group reaffirmed its success in the Ibero-American market and launched an image that they called underpop, which consisted of Indian-type and leather ornaments on their clothing. This image earned them recognition from the most famous Mexican youth magazines of the moment.

In May 2000, Angie Taddei gave an interview to the veteran youth publication Notas Musicales, in which she declared that she would record two more albums with Jeans and then say goodbye to the group, because she was about to enter university and wanted to concentrate on your studies. However, it was during the month of December 2000 that the Argentine said goodbye to the group and reiterated that it was due to the reasons that she had made public in May of that same year. But in 2002, Angie Taddei admitted to a media outlet that her departure was also due to the preference that existed towards Paty Sirvent  on the part of her parents, the band’s managers.

Still without digesting the news of Angie’s departure, just seven days after the official announcement of her departure , 15-year-old Dulce María joined the lineup of Jeans, who had previously stated that she liked the idea of being a another member of the group. It should be noted that the girl already had experience in pop music, having been part of the KIDS group between 1996 and 1998. Her official presentation was on December 20, 2000 at a concert in Celaya, Guanajuato. Despite the fact that she had not been up for a short time, Dulcehe learned the choreographies and fulfilled the group’s pending commitments. At the end of the year 2000 the group announced that it was separating from EMI Capitol Records and entering the company BMG Ariola (today Sony BMG). The decision was due to the fact that EMI had gone through a change of directors and they proposed that the group change their musical style and start recording rock, so the girls and their manager decided to stop working with them.

With Dulce María already integrated, the group recorded at the beginning of 2001 in Madrid, Spain, under the production of José Ramón Flores , who with his songs launched the singer  Fey to fame . Their fourth album was titled “Cuarto Para las Cuatro2”, a name that was devised as a play on words that referred to the way in which they requested the same hotel room for all, during the recordings of the album in France and Italy and that also represented a cabalistic number due to the fact that this would be their fourth studio album. The album was presented to the media on July 24 with the song “Entre Azul y Buenas Noches” , followed by singles like “ Azul ” and “ Corazón Confidente ”.”. Dulce María’s stay in the group lasted around eighteen months, since, in mid-2002, she began recording the Televisa soap opera, Clase 406, for which she had to decide between this leading role on the small screen or being With the group, the decision was to leave Jeans.

To choose the new replacement, the group held, for the first time, a public casting call in the style of a reality show, through the Telehit music video channel. Approximately 4,000 girls from all over Mexico attended the contest to replace Dulce María . Only six of them were finalists: Mayté Tanguma, Paulina Zea, Sandra Roach, Paola Guzmán, Atziry del Valle and Valeria Maza Mattew., originally from Guatemala. The Guatemalan being the one to enter the group. Her presentation occurred on June 29, 2002 at the Teatro Metropólitan, however, the young woman found it difficult to gain the acceptance of the followers, which cost them to be the member with the least duration in the group. Those attending that concert and several representatives of the written press, radio and television, complained about a bad organization in the concert and about the delay in the start of the event, delay due to a fight between Regina Murguía and the representatives of the group in which, supposedly, they insulted and mistreated her. This conflict led to her sudden departure from the group. Regina’s official defection occurred in August 2002, and following it, shedecided to take legal action against Alejandro Sirvent for psychological abuse , in addition to not receiving remuneration for his work, which in fact caused divisions among the public and the group’s image was noticeably damaged.

When the legal confrontation was made known, Angie and Melissa agreed with Murguía and assured that their respective departures from the group occurred in the same way, but they did not want to sue Alejandro Sirvent to avoid problems. Regina alleged that Patricia Bartón, mother of Paty Sirvent , called her “fat” and claimed that she sang and danced badly. For her part, Bartón said in her defense that the cause of the strange behavior of the young woman was her own mother, since she forced her to attend the gym and watched everything she ate. Likewise, the lady stated that Ella Regina behaved in an unprofessional and rude manner, and insulted her colleagues.

Even with the scandal unleashed by Regina Murguía , in September of that year the search began to find the young woman who would take her place again. The label and Jeans’ personal manager reviewed all the files of the young women who had previously casted on Telehit. The winner of this casting was Amiel Tena, 19, who had been one of the 25 finalists along with Valeria, who had just joined the group. In September 2002, Amiel joined Jeans and her presentation to the public, press and fans, took place in the city of Torreón, Coahuila on the 22nd of that month. Right there, they premiered the song “Corazón Confidente” in a grupera version .

With Valeria and Amiel in the group and the legal problem with Regina already overcome, the group announced the decision to change the musical genre, and from pop they went to norteño, recording the album “Cuarto para las cuatro II”, which was a compilation of the best-known songs from the previous album along with their respective grupera versions. This material went on sale in Mexico and the United States on June 17, 2003. In Mexico the album with the group songs was published, while in the United States the complete album was published. The songs that make it up are “Entre Azul Y Buenas Noches”, “Corazón Confidente”, “Mensajes En Botellas” (pop and grupera versions) and “Cómo Olvidarte” (unpublished song). This album was under the direction of Pedro Íñiguez, and was recorded in Miami, however it was the group’s least relevant album, even for many fans it went unnoticed.

With this new stage, the girls from Jenas had to reaffirm their interpretation because they performed in palenques and town theaters, where live musicians and shows with the grupero influence were required. From the hand of the representative Óscar Flores, they started a tour of the North of the Country, with the image of Terra footwear. After more than six months of promotion on radio, television and even with concerts and autograph signings, the public did not accept the gender change of the singers, much less their new members. The media and fans agreed that the norteño album was a complete failure.

After a year and a half of belonging to the group, Valeria Maza Mattew deserted for personal reasons, but above all, for not being liked by the public . In view of the fact that she would not return, once again several tests were carried out on some young women and two candidates were chosen to increase the lineup to five members. After a long search, it was the 22-year-old  Sabrina Rodríguez from the capital , who was a friend and neighbor of Paty Sirvent, who would join the new lineup.

After the bad experience in the foray into the grupero genre, Jeans returned to the pop genre, with the recording of the album “Ammore” , which was released on the market in the summer of 2004. Stage in which they showed a look very similar to that of the fashion of the eighties and under the Univisión Music label. This album featured original songs by Alex Sirvent, José Ramón Flores and Reyli. The singles released were “Ammore!”, “Cómo Duele”, “Loca De Amor” and “En Mala Hora”.In mid-2005, and with the aim of improving the poor sales of the first edition, the re-edition of this disc went on sale with a DVD containing four videos, biographies and an image gallery. An intense tour of presentations also began. The material was about to get the gold record, but it stayed in the attempt.

As expected, in November 2005, the group faced a new crisis, after Amiel Tena announced his departure from the group . A couple of weeks later, 23-year-old Marcela García Cruz from Potosi joined the group . In December of that 2005, Marcela,  Paty Sirvent , Karla and Sabrina traveled to Europe to prepare and record what would be their next album. The final bombshell for the group and its representatives exploded when in November 2006, in a broadcast of the Historias Engarzadas program on Tv Azteca , a Mexican television network, he dedicated a program to the group, in which Angie, Regina and Amiel revealed their real motives. to leave the group. Amiel said that thanks to Sabrina, she already knew that she would be replaced by Marcela García Cruz. Also in this same special, Mr. Alejandro Sirvent assured that he had not treated the girls badly at any time, the same as his wife.

In 2006, his seventh studio album called “Porque soy libre” was released by the independent label Quimera Sound Entertainment and was released in the summer of that year. This album had as its main single “Yo No Te Pido La Luna” , a song made famous in 1984 by the Mexican singer Daniela Romo. It is worth mentioning that on this album there was a transition to a more organic and acoustic pop. This material became known outside of America: it was promoted in the first half of the year in various cities in Italy. The other singles from this album were “Tu Falso Amor” and “La Mujer Maravilla” .

At the beginning of 2007, surprisingly on Televisa’s Otro Rollo program, the group announced again the departure of a member, Sabrina , who was leaving due to alleged differences that arose at the end of 2006 with the manager. The announcement was made official in the program of the presenter Adal Ramones, “Otro Rollo”. When this information became known, new speculation arose stating that the group was going through one of the strongest crises in its musical career and some assumed that, at any moment, the group would announce its disappearance, something that did not happen at that time. , but that was seen coming soon.

JEANS only remains with 3 members

At the end of the promotion of “Because I am free” , the girls decided not to include a new member and stayed as a trio:  Paty Sirvent , Karla and Marcela , leaving this lineup and an album was prepared to commemorate twelve years of artistic career. Said album was launched on the market on February 13, 2008, under the name of Jeans 12 years with an unpublished song and his other hits recorded again, which also included a documentary and comments from some of the former members of the group.

The end of Jeans

After twelve years of career and with the well-known controversies and strong criticism for its constant changes of members, a statement appeared on its official page that said “The group separates” after twelve years of trajectory, we leave this compilation as a farewell to all the fans of the group, for which they would prepare a recital on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. at the Teatro Metropólitan in Mexico City, where the group performed many of the songs that made them famous. In that last show, Sabrina participated with “Tu Falso Amor” and Amiel with “Cómo Duele”, in addition to the last song “Fue Por Ti” to demonstrate that the first did not retire on bad terms and that the second “fixed their differences “.

After the separation of the group, four years later, at the end of November 2014 , Party servant, Karla Diaz-leal, Angie Taddei and Melissa López , met in a restaurant in Mexico City, which sparked rumors of a possible reunion of the group with the alignment of the second album, the most successful of the group. However, the statements by the founder, Paty Sirvent , did not wait and she officially said that she would not participate in such a project, since that stage was closed in 2008 when Jeans announced their separation, and that the moment with her ex-companions was only due to a meal between ¨friends¨.

The return of Jeans

It was thanks to personnel from Bobo Producciones that Alejandro Sirvent was able to give them the rights to use the name of the group, in exchange for rent from it. The members that would make up this reunion would be the most loved by the fans and those who were in the most successful stage of the group: Karla Díaz, Angie Taddei, Melissa López and Regina Murguía .

On June 27, 2015, Jeans performed at the annual Gay march in the Zócalo of Mexico City , singing 3 songs: Tell Me You Love Me, Pepe and Enferma De Amor. On Monday, June 29, they offered a press conference with his new record label, Sony Music, officially announcing their long-awaited reunion. In July they recorded their live album Dèjá Vu that included their most popular hits and 3 unpublished songs. The group made their reunion tour official, titled Dèjá Vu Tour, which was a resounding and unexpected success because it even surpassed its previous stage, in terms of summoning capacity in an event, thus filling the Metroplitan theater 3 times and appearing for the first time at the National Auditorium, with three shows that would fill the same rooms. times. Tour from which they also released a live material of the moment.

History and musical trajectory of JNS

After having finalized their rental contract for the use of the name: “Jeans”, owned by Alejandro Sirvent, at the end of 2016, the girls together with their new manager, Ari Borovoy, made the decision, which the OV7 group would make in due time. , change their name to have creative freedom, so at the beginning of 2017 the group officially changed their name, turning the reunion into a return to the stage, with their own name and a new direction. The group would now be called JNS , made up of the girls from the reunion Angie Taddei, Melissa López Cendejas, Karla Diaz-Leal Arreguin and Regina Murguia , who recorded ” Metamorfosis “, their first album under the JNS label, with famous covers of the decade from the 90’s.

It’s a beauty, madness and a very brutal well-being that gives us incredible satisfaction. We are very grateful because we have this second chance ,” Angie said in an interview where she assured that now they were free to express their feelings and comment on the project because before they only had to obey orders from  Paty Sirvent ‘s father . At the end of 2019 they released the cover of ” Desesperada ” song originally sung by the Spanish ” Marta Sanchez“However, it ended up being a commercial failure.

After finishing the very successful tour of the 90s Pop Tour where the JNS were one of the few artists that were at all the concerts, they decided to join forces with the Kabah group to make a tour called “Rainbow Tour” betting on nostalgia. His first two concerts were announced for April 24 and 31, 2020, however, after the arrival of the pandemic that hit Mexico City in March 2020, “El Coronavirus” had to be postponed to July of the same year.

Karla Díaz began to achieve great success from her part when she launched her own channel on YouTube which was called “Pinky Promise” and in which she had many guests, thus consolidating a great success for her artistic career completely away from the JNS group.

Although on social networks and the internet people are looking a lot for the JNS pack or photos in which they can be seen scantily clad or in sensual poses, the truth is that currently there is no JNS pack other than those photos that the artist has published on their own networks and that could be considered as sexy.
