Eduardo Capetillo Vázquez , better known as Eduardo Capetillo, is a famous Mexican soap opera actor who has stood out in projects such as La Otra cara del Alma, Pecadora, Soy tu dueña, La Academia and even having his own reality show. Eduardo Capetillo was born on April 13, 1970 in Mexico City and is married to the actress Biby Gaytán  with whom he had 5 children; Alejandra, Eduardo Jr, Daniel, Ana Paula, and Manuel.

Beginnings in the life of Eduardo Capetillo

Eduardo Capetillo Vázquez, better known in the world of entertainment as Eduardo Capetillo, was born on April 13, 1970 in Mexico City. We are aware that his father was the bullfighter Manuel Capetillo, who also ventured into the entertainment world of acting, appearing both on the small screen and in the movies. Speaking of his family background, he comes from a family with a legendary tradition in bullfighting, and he has Manuel Jr. and Guillermo Capetillo as brothers.

It is considered that the beginnings of his artistic career occurred when, while still very young  , Eduardo Capetillo had the opportunity to participate in some acting preparation courses with the actress Martha Zavaleta as a teacher, and later he was enrolled in some jazz courses at the Center of Artistic Education (CEA) of Televisa.

Thanks to this preparation,  Eduardo Capetillo turned out to be the winner of the festival known as Juguemos a Cantar, in which we are aware that he came in second place thanks to his excellent interpretation of the song titled My group plays Rock, which appeared more afternoon for public enjoyment thanks to Orfeón Records.

In 1984 Eduardo Capetillo  played the role of Lalo in the play known as Vaselina con Timbiriche  and due to his great performance he was invited to join the emblematic Timbiriche band, replacing the artist Benny Ibarra; With the group he achieved special success with the album known as Rock Show , a record that in turn belongs to the album Timbiriche VI. After this great success, Eduardo would continue to appear on the albums Timbiriche VII, Timbiriche VIII and Timbiriche IX . We cannot forget that during the time when Eduardo Capetillo belonged to Timbiriche, was in charge of interpreting some songs as a soloist, which enjoyed great popularity in their time, among them we can name: “Don’t be so cruel”, “Todo Cambia”, and “Con todos menos contigo”. In the same way we have news that he went on tour throughout Mexico and also performed in some other Latin American countries.

Among his Timbiriche bandmates were Sasha Sokol, Biby Gaytán (who would later become his wife), Edith Márquez, Erick Rubín, Alix Bauer, Mariana Garza, Diego Schoening, Thalía, and Paulina Rubio.

Eduardo Capetillo combined his career as a singer without neglecting his acting career, so in 1985 he would appear on the big screen with the film Cementerio del terror , where he would give life to the character of Tony, later he was part of the cast of the theater version of the film known as Grease (Vaselina in Spanish) and it would also be in this same year when he would participate in the telenovela known under the title of Martín Garatuza. Later, in 1989, he would be in charge of interpreting the character of Víctor, in the telenovela known as Morir para vivir. It was in that same year, in 1989, when Eduardo Capetillo decided to leave TImbriche.to embark on a solo career and continue his successful acting career. 

For two years we could enjoy his performance in soap operas called Reach a star and Reach a star II. It would be the same way in 1991 when he would launch the musical theme of “Give me a night” as a soloist,  in the same way Eduardo Capetillo was the winner at the TVyNovelas Awards with the category of “best male revelation” , thanks to his excellent performance in the telenovela Alcanzar una estrella.

In 1992 he was as Eddy López in the soap opera known as Baila conmigo , which would have a homonymous theatrical version in which Eduardo Capetillo would play the same character, we cannot forget that it would be in the same year of 1992 , when we would see him appear on the big screen with the movie (related to the aforementioned soap operas) known under the title of More than reaching a star, where he would be in charge of the interpretation of the character of Eduardo or Lalo Martínez, also called Eduardo Montenegro .

For the year 1993  Eduardo Capetillo was nominated at the TVyNovelas Awards in the category of “best young actor” , this time he did not win but it was thanks to his excellent participation in Dance with me. And it would also be in this same year when he would stand out as a soloist with the song “Aquí estoy”.

A year later, in 1994, Eduardo Capetillo was in charge of giving life to the character of Sergio Santibáñez in the telenovela that became known as Marimar , this being one of the famous trilogies of the Marías. While the following year, in 1995, we were able to enjoy the talent of his voice with the song “Piel ajena”, the same one that he performed as a soloist, later he would again be nominated at the TVyNovelas Awards with the category of “best leading actor” thanks to his participation in Marimar and although he did not win, he would win the ACE Awards for the same soap opera with the category of “best male figure of the year”. The following year, in 1996, he gave life to Renzo in the soap opera called Canción de amor.

A short time later, in 1998, she appeared as part of the cast of the soap opera known as Camila , in which we know that she was in charge of interpreting the character of Miguel Gutiérrez, the skin in which she would be until 1999 and then more melodramas would arrive like; The secret, Long live the children!, Amy, the girl with the blue backpack, The stepmother, Pilgrim, Fire in the blood, Sinner, I am your owner, Relentless rain, The other side of the soul, among others.

In mid-2011 Biby Gaytán and Eduardo Capetillo were chosen to be part of La Academia , Biby Gaytán  would be the host and Eduardo Capetillo the director but they did not last long in the program because weeks later they were fired from La Academia, the directors of the chain Televisión Azteca, decided to remove the actor from the position that Gaytán already held as host, this after they both used the program to clarify rumors about their private life and especially when the rumor spread that Capetillo had wanted one of the contestants ” Yanilen Diaz Reinaldo” and although he was told not to talk about it before one of the reality concerts began, Biby Gaytán ‘s husband he ignored it and if he spoke about it live in a situation that many classified as offensive to the girl because she was exposed at the national level as a “husband remover”. This fact made the couple disappear from the media again. In this program she shared credits with the judges; Lolita Cortés ,  Arturo López Gavito  and  Regina Orozco .
