Who is Ajax and Prok?

Ayax and Prok are two Spanish twin brothers who, thanks to their great vocal talent, consecrated a successful musical career within the rap and hiphop genre with great hits such as “Guajiro, Salgo pa la calle, Reproches, De Graná a Maracay, Mi muse, Estilo Taraotarantino”, among many more. The rappers Ayax and Prok debuted in music in 2014 and are currently considered two of the greatest exponents of rap throughout Spain and internationally.

Beginnings in the life of Ajax and Prok

Ayax and Adrián were born in 1991 in Granada, Spain, they are twin brothers who make up the musical duo known as Ayax and Prok . This musically talented couple were raised in the Albayzin neighbourhood, and from an early age they were interested in poetry, painting and drawing.

Later Ayax and Prok  would become more and more interested in the world of music, being Ayax who initially showed his great talent by writing his first song with only 12 years of age, and since then they began to stand out more and more in music. the world of music, putting on the stage name of Ayax and Prok,  although as expected at that time they were not yet known by the large crowd that currently follows them.

It was in the years 2012 and 2013, when Ayax and Prok  began their musical career with the publication of the songs known as “Sucio y bello”, “Albayzin 24-7” and “El grito del esclavo”, songs with those who were managing to consolidate their first great successes in music and went on to forge a name within the music scene in Spain.

A little later, for the year 2016 Ayax and Prok released  the album Checked ; In addition to that they released the singles called: “Polizzia” and “Wanted” and then the successful album Albayzin Recopilatorio would arrive. The successes for the duo did not stop and their career was gaining more and more strength, especially due to the great quality with which they made each of their songs, which among the most outstanding at that time were; “Reproaches, Sakalakalashnikov, Plexiglas, Curling the curl, Mute mouth raw life, Nefertiti, The earthquake, I’ll get you out of the neighborhood, The habit does not make the monk, In each bar, Look at what rhythm, Who gives more?, among many plus.

Throughout their artistic career, the singers Ayax and Prok have leaned towards the musical genre of rap. In various interviews they have recognized that what they like most about this genre is that it can be very easily adapted to reflect situations of daily life in which they have grown up, being that with this they manage to reach a greater number of people. Regarding this, we have to say that their lives have not been entirely easy, this is how Ajax has confessed to the entertainment press how complicated his youth was:“From the age of 16 to 23, I worked in what I could: on the construction site, as a waiter, in public relations, as a stock clerk in a supermarket… I also did illegal things to earn my bread at that time. My parents had a very complicated situation, they were going to evict us, I had no money at home and I went to Ibiza.”

It should be noted that from these experiences the famous musical theme known as ” Desahucio ” was created, which appears on the album called Cara y Cruz , where we can also find out a little about their lives in the song “He made me strong” , where the singers took the opportunity to give advice to their fans and followers with the phrase “never be ashamed of what made you strong”;

We cannot leave aside that for  Ayax and Prok , the album Cara y Cruz was a recognition from the music industry; This is how Ayax has shared in various interviews that he is also proud of having his own music label and not depending on any record company: “They have put checks on the table for large sums but I prefer to die in peace and not give my art to some people to profit from him without deserving it. This decision has meant that we did not play on the radio while we are one of the Spanish musicians who get the most people into a concert. That a complete album of social criticism, hard rap and all dry bases from the nineties, without advertising or anyone behind it that goes triple platinum and almost 70 million visits is incredible.”

We must also point out that Ayax, in addition to having grown up with his brother in a neighborhood characterized by difficult economic conditions, Ayax  had the bad luck of having been in a juvenile center, let’s not forget that he did everything to help his parents, and this brought him some problems with the law as a consequence, that experience marked him but later he decided to capture it in several of his songs.

In mid-2018 Ayax and Prok  released the song “Rojo y negro”, a musical theme that at the time was highly praised by critics, pointing out that it shows their lyrical skills, their knowledge regarding Greek mythology, the classical philosophy, and the cultural and social roots of his homeland: Granada. In this album, their great ability to compose is also manifested, and listeners can realize many things that happened to them at a very young age.

Thanks to the success of this album, they participated in events such as: Cruilla, Fitur Es Música, Viñarock, A Summer Story, Arenal Sound, Donostifestibala, O Son Do Camiño, Al Rumbo, Drambeach, Weekend Beach Festival, Mallorca Live, Primavera Trompetera, Bull Festival, Beat Out Festival, Cultura Inquieta, Weekend Beach, among others that ended up consolidating them as one of the greatest references in hip hop and rap today. They toured in countries like Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile, later they went to London, where they had great success with the song “Rock without subtitles”.

The following year, in 2019  Ayax and Prok made the decision to take a break in their artistic career, at least as far as their performances on stage were concerned; but not in music because they released more songs like “Amor al peso”, “El circo” in collaboration with Blasfem, “Café solo” and “Distrito cerrao”.

In the artistic career of the musical duo Ayax and Prok during the past year 2020 they released the singles “Bukowski”, “La haine”, “Zinedine” and “El puchero la abuela”, while in 2021 they published the singles Deo sucios, Who gives more?, The street screams and The threat.

In addition to making a musical career together, Ayax and Prok also tend to release songs on their own and solo, so along with being part of the duo, they also have a successful career as soloists, thus being, in short, everyone. the successes that each one has separately, at the beginning of 2022 Ayax premiered the song “La Mili” , while his brother Prok premiered “Este es el prok” .
