  1. When he was 8 years old, he got his mother’s guitar. Then one of his stepfather’s patients was asked to give Zac guitar lessons.
  2. He took guitar lessons for 2 years but then fell in love with bluegrass music and focused more on it.
  3. During his childhood he played with his brother and father on the weekend visits.
  4. He undertook vocal training with a vocal coach at his church in Cumming for a year when he was in his mid-teens.
  5. During his high school studies, he began playing solo concerts at local venues. He performed covers of popular country and pop songs.
  6. While studying at the university, he was a member of the Zeta Kappa Chapter of the Brotherhood of the Kappa Alpha Order.
  7. He has worked as a camp counselor at a United Methodist summer camp called Camp Glisson. He served in the same position at Camp Mikell in Toccoa, Georgia.
  8. In 2004, he and his father opened a music club and restaurant called Zacs Place in Georgia’s Lake Oconee area.
  9. The restaurant was eventually bought by a developer and Zac used the money to buy a tour bus and tour full time. The funds also helped produce his band’s album, Local.
  10. In January 2013, his band performed with the US national anthem during an NFC Championship game with the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers .
  11. In January 2015, his band announced a 4-way strategic deal with record label Southern Ground Artists, Big Machine Label Group, Republic Records and John Varvatos Records for the release of their 4th studio album.
  12. He started a nonprofit camp called CampSouthern Ground in Fayetteville, Georgia. The camp has supported Little Kids Rock, which aims to provide music lessons to disadvantaged public schools.
  13. In 2003 he founded his own record label Home Grown, later renamed Southern Ground.
