Joseph Wayne McVey IV is better known by his stage name Z-Ro and The Mo City Don. He is an American rapper from Houston, Texas. He has been named one of the New York Times’ most underrated rappers and released his debut album, Look What You Did To Me , in 1998.
Early life and career
Z-Ro was born in Houston, Texas, United States of America, on January 19, 1977. As far as his ethnicity is concerned, Z-Ro is a White American and holds American nationality. He was raised in his hometown of Houston, Texas.
Z-Ros’s mother passed away at the tender age of six, leading him to live in many homes in search of stability throughout his childhood. He eventually settled in the Ridgemont area, a middle-class suburb of Missouri City in southwest Houston.
Due to his unemployment, during his teenage years, the rapper turned to drugs and joked about stress. According to Z-Ro, he was inspired to work harder for his goals of getting off the streets after hearing the music of 2Pac, Geto Boys, Street Military, K-Rino, and Klondike Kat.
After that, Z-Ro found his freestyle rap talent and was discovered and signed by the CEO, after going through two recording studios to demo. Z-Ro released his popular Rap debut titled The Life of Joseph W. McVey.
The song gained wide public attention and helped increase the rappers’ fan base. In the same year, he released the next album, under the title Let the Truth Be Told, which was also well received and featured Juvenile, Ashanti and frequent guest Paul Wall. After a year, he released the album, titled Im Still Livin, while he was in prison for drug possession.
Z-Ro also released Heroin in the year 2010, which was followed by an album titled Angel Dust in 2012 and Methamphetamine in 2011. On June 30, 2017, rapper X-Ro released another album which is said to be his last. album, titled No Love Boulevard.
