Yvonne Craig
She is especially remembered as Batgirl, in Batman, the series of the 60. Yvonne Craig, who also appeared in “Star Trek” and accompanied Elvis Presley in a movie, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015, as a result of cancer at age 78, at her home in Pacific Palisades.
Born on May 16, 1937, in Taylovile, a small town in Illinois, Yvonne Craig studied dance and in the 1950s, as a teenager, became a ballerina with the Monte Carlo Russian Ballet. But the actress will be remembered above all as Barbara Gordon, the daughter of the Gotham City commissioner, who adopts the identity of Batgirl, to fight crime, in the third season of Batman . She appeared in all 26 episodes of the third season, as a way to alleviate the lack of female leads in the series. The dubbers turned her character in Spain into Batgirl.
In 2000, Yvonne Craig had published “From Ballet to the Batcave and Beyond”, her memoir. She was survived by Kenneth Aldrich, her husband, her sister Meridel and her nephews.
