1. He became the first Bollywood singer to bill Rs. 70 lakhs for a song when he received a similar amount for the single Mujhe Neat Pila De Sajna for the film Mastaan .
2. Yo Yo, in his nickname, is inspired by an African American slang meaning “your own”.
3. At the end of 2014, he disappeared from the music scene, as well as from the public spotlight. Although he made his comeback the following year, his absence from the public stage lasted 18 months. He blamed bipolar illness for his prolonged absence.
4. In 2012, he landed in a major controversy, alleging that some of his songs promote violence against women and cast a positive light on rape. The fact that the gang’s infamous 2012 Delhi rape had taken place by then compounded his difficulties when an FIR was filed against him. The Punjab and Haryana High Court ruled in July 2013 to dismiss the FIR against him.
