YNW Melly is an American rapper, singer and songwriter who has been releasing rap songs since he was 15 years old. However, he is best known for the hit single Mord in meine Kopf , originally uploaded to the SoundCloud Audio platform on March 4, 2017 but officially released on June 1, 2018. It originally peaked at number 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart and 7th on US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, which achieved Platinum status in the US on March 14, 2019. YNW Melly also released his debut EP Answering the Call in Jail in late 2017, on which he collaborated with rappers Lil B and John Wicks.

As of 2018, he massively released singles that were very well received by audiences, such as Virtual (Blue Balenciagas) , Slang the Iron , Melly the Menace , Butter Pecan , and others. He released his debut mixtape entitled Ich bin du in August 2018 and his 2nd mixtape, We all shine , followed a few months later and was released on January 17, 2019 with 16 tracks. YNW Melly collaborated with Kanye West on one of the songs from the mixtape entitled Mixed Personalities and the accompanying music video had nearly 37 million views on YouTube as of March 2019.

1. His original stage name was Kid Fresh. The nickname Melly came to him when he stole a burger from a restaurant, and while he was hiding in the bushes one of his friends called him Melly, after which the name stuck.
2. YNW stands for Junge N*gga Welt , but its merchandise lists it as Junge Neue Welt , so in the first place it was more suited to being worn in public.
3. The first memory of his childhood is of riding his dog’s back. The dog’s name was Bow-wow.
4. YNW Melly recorded his first song when he was in 8th grade by taping a microphone to a hanger and placing a cap from his head on top to thicken his voice.
5. When he was 15, he started posting songs on a SoundCloud account he called YNW MUSIC.

13. He carried an actual gun everywhere he went in 4th grade and would keep it in a lunch box. Sometimes he even carried several weapons with him for protection.
14. He and his friends set fire to the forest because it seemed fun. Luckily, firefighters contained the fire, but he was hit by his mother.
15. When YNW Melly was 16, he shot a gun near Vero Beach High School and although no one was hurt, he was charged with three counts of aggravated assault.

On February 13, 2019, YNW Melly and fellow rapper YNW Bortlen were arrested and charged with the October 2018 murder of two members of his first degree YNW music collective. They were two aspiring rappers, 19-year-old YNW Juvy and 21-year-old YNW Sakchaser. Police said in their report that Melly killed her shot while Bortlen arranged the crime scene to look like someone else’s drive-by shot, and later took the victims to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
25. On February 22, 2019, it was reported that both Melly and Bortlen were suspects in an unsolved case dating back to 2017. Off-duty police officer Gary Chambliss in Melly’s hometown of Gifford, Fla. was fatally shot in an accident after two groups of citizens fought, and collapsed to stop them.
