Biography
Yemi Eberechi Alade popularly known as Yemi Alade as earlier stated is a Nigerian Afropop singer, songwriter, actress, and activist. She was born on the 13th of March, 1989.
Yemi Alade’s father is a Yoruba man while her mother is an Igbo woman. Her father, James Alade was a commissioner of Police and is a native of Ondo State while his wife, Helen Uzoma is from Abia State.
Yemi Alade attended the Victory Grammar School in Ikeja and furthered her education at the University of Lagos (both schools in Nigeria).
In 2009, as a student, Yemi Alade partook in a TV talent show, Peak Talent Show and she emerged the winner. That registered her debut appearance on TV and her first recognition. But her fame boomed when she released Johnny in 2014. However, before then, she got signed to the Effyzie Music Group (it was under this label she released Johnny, her hit single).

Early Career
Prior to the release of her hit single, Johnny, her debut studio album, King Of Queens was released on the 2nd of October, 2014. She collaborated with producers such as Selebobo, Sizzle Pro, Shady Bizniz, Beat Nation, and so on. After then, her hit single, Johnny, and other singles, Tangerine and Kissing came along. She promoted her album by touring several African countries such as Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa.
Ever since, she has had various music releases, collaborations, features, and so on. She has also gone on different tours and worked with several world-famous stars on various projects.
Career
In 2017, she replaced 2Face as a judge on the second edition of The Voice Nigeria and she coached alongside Waje, Timi Dakolo, and Patoranking.
In September 2019, Yemi Alade signed a multi-year licensing deal with Universal Music Africa (UMA) and UMG France. UMA will serve as her exclusive worldwide record partner while UMG France will serve as the international rollout partner for all of her releases under the label.
Yemi Alade has also received several ambassadorial contracts and partnerships from different brands both locally and internationally. She has been endorsed by brands like Luc Belaire, Glo, Maybelline, Shell, and so many more.
In 2020, Yemi Alade starred in Beyoncé’s Black Is King visual trailer and was announced to be featured in the movie released and premiered on Disney+ on 31 July 2020. On the 25th of August 2020, Yemi Alade was announced to be one of the returning judges for The Voice Nigeria, Season 3 alongside Waje, Darey, and Falz.
On 17th November 2020, she announced the release of her fifth studio album, Empress. She released the tracklist and the cover art of the album and finally released the album on the 20th of November. The album contains 15 tracks and it had guest appearances and collaborations from artists such as Estelle, Patoranking, Rudeboy, Mzansi Youth Choir, and Dadju.
On the 13th of August 2021, Yemi Alade released her second EP Queendoncom with seven singles. It was an all-solo album as Alade featured no guest appearances on the project.
In 2019, Yemi Alade featured in Home (The Movie), taking the role of Nneka in the movie. And in 2020, she was also featured in Black is King by Beyoncé, and, Omo Ghetto: The Saga by Funke Akindele.

Advocacy
Yemi Alade has taken part in different advocacy programs and this includes her visitation to her secondary School, Victory Grammar School, Ikeja. She helped the students who had difficulty with eyesight get equipment to help them with their sight.
On the 15th of November 2019, she worked alongside Chawki; featuring on The Nairobi Summit on ICPD25 for the movement, A Global Call to Action for handicapped children in Kenya.
In 2020, Yemi Alade also joined the United Nations Development Programme to speak for the protection and aiding of poor people across Africa affected by the coronavirus pandemic. She was featured on the campaign song, Stand Together which collaborated with other African artists like 2Baba, Ahmed Soultan, Ben Pol, Teni, Amanda Black, and so on.
On 23 September 2020, she was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) by the organization’s administrator. She pledged with the UNDP that her focus on Sustainable Development Goals would be on inequality, empowering women and creating awareness of the impact of global climate change. And on 30 October 2020, she performed her singles “True Love” and “Africa” at the TED virtual countdown global launch.
2021
On the 17th of October 2021, Yemi Alade performed at the Earth shot Prize ceremony which took place at the Alexandra Palace, London at the invitation of the Royal family (The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge). Yemi Alade performed alongside Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendez, Cold Play and KSI. The Royal family was said to have specifically selected her song Rain to be performed at the event.
On the 2nd of March, 2022, Yemi Alade was announced as the global ambassador of a Pan-African campaign, It’s Up To Us. In partnership with the Africa Centre For Disease Control and the MasterCard Foundation to encourage Africans to get vaccinated against Covid 19.
