Biography

Yaya Touré was born 13 May 1983 in Bouaké, Ivory Coast. He joined the ASEC Mimosas youth academy in 1996 and moved to Beveren, a Belgian club in 2001. In the summer of 2003, Touré had a trial with Arsenal but had difficulties in receiving a work permit. He however opted for the Ukrainian side Metalurh Donetsk in December 2003, where he spent one-and-a-half years.

Touré joined Olympiacos in 2005. Olympiacos won the double that season, and Touré was one of their key players. His performances in Greece were impressive and attracted interest from many clubs. He moved to Monaco in 2006 and scored five times to help haul the club out of relegation difficulties.

Touré joined  Barcelona for €10 million and made his official debut for the club in  August 2007. He stayed at the club for three seasons scoring 6 goals in 118 appearances. In 2010  He signed a five-year deal with  Manchester City for a fee of around £24 million. He spent eight years at the club, scoring 79 goals in 316 appearances.

Toure re-signed for Super League Greece club Olympiacos on 2 September 2018, but the contract was terminated by mutual agreement in December. He joined China League One side Qingdao Huanghai in 2019  but left the club in January 2020.
