2. Shvedova likes when people call her Slava.
3. She won her first WTA tournament in February 2007. In the final match she won against Mara Santangelo with a 2-0 score.
4. In 2012, she received medical advice for a nervous tic in one of her eyes. The doctor recommended that she wear sports glasses to every training session and game.
5. Shvedova received a golden set (a set in which the player does not lose a single point) at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships in a match against Sara Errani. Yaroslava is the first player to win a golden set in a Grand Slam tournament.
6. In August 2008, Yaroslava won the ITF tournament in Monterrey, Mexico. In the final she beat Magdalena Rybarikova in straight sets.
7. From 2002 to 2008 she played for Russia. In order to raise Kazakhstan’s sporting profile, she changed nationality in 2008 and started playing from Kazakhstan.
