Yandel Biography

Yandel is a Puerto Rican reggaeton musician, record producer, and composer. He emerged in the music arena during 1995 and his real name is Llandel Veguilla Malave. His duet teaming with Wisin has made him even more popular and the duo has been winning the hearts of people all over the world with their music. Yandel was born to father Julio Veguilla and mother Lucy Malave on January 14, 1977.

Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, Yandel grew up with his siblings Gadiel and Linnette. After completing his studies, Yandel got a job as a barber in his hometown and later entered the music field. He met his friend Wisin at school and they shared a common interest in music that led them to form a duo in 1998. Their debut album was with Los Reyes del Nuevo Milenio in 2000. The album went well and they signed with the Universal label subsidiary called Machete Music. His album My Life.My Life released in 2003 also did well. Their album Pa’l Mundo propelled them to the heights of fame and they gained success from it in 2005. Yandel’s solo career began in 2003, when he released his first album called Quien contra Mi. His second album De Lider a Leyenda, which was released in November 2013, was certified Gold by the RIAA in 2014.
