The golfer was born on October 25, 1993 in San Diego, California, United States of America. He was born as the son of a naturalized German/French immigrant father Stefan Schauffele and a Taiwanese immigrant mother, Ping Yi. He has siblings: his brother, Nico Schauffele, whose information is not available in the media. Moreover, both of Schauffele’s great-grandfathers played football at the top European level.

He started playing since high school Scripps Ranch High School. During this time, he became the individual winner of the California State High School Championship in 2011. In 2017, he birdied the 72nd hole to win after becoming the first rookie to win the Tour championship. Then he finished at the 2018 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. He started the 2018 FedEx Cup qualifiers in 28th position. He finished the Tour Championship tied for 18th. Xander joined the European Tour 2018 as an associate member. After winning the 2018 WGC-HSBC Champions, he won the European Tour Order of Merit.
