“Essence” was released on October 30, 2020, as the eleventh track off his fourth studio album, Made in Lagos. It features Tems, a Nigerian artist who co-wrote the song alongside Wizkid. P2J and Legendury Beatz collaborated on “Essence.”

The duo expressed their affection for each other in the “sensual” song. On April 9, 2021, a music video shot in Accra, Ghana was released. Actually, the song gave Tems the exposure she needed in her music career and secured her more international deals, shooting her to fame in just a short time she emerged into the scene.
Wizkid’s “Essence” ft Tems Breaking Records
Recall that Essence became the first African song to go Platinum in the united states, after selling 1 million copies in America, under a year. The first Homemade African song in history, to achieve this.
Wizkid alongside Tems received their plaque at Novo Theatre, Los Angeles after his concert in the same theatre, while receiving the plaque, Wizkid appreciated his fans for their constant support, his whole team who contributed to the making of the song. He also appreciated and declared his love for Tems, where he noted that he is the CEO of rebel gang; the fan base for Tems.
