My career took a huge leap when Bill and Dick trusted a young, inexperienced director to make the first film. episode of Colombo . That job helped convince the studio to let me do The Devil on Wheels, and it had a lot to do with everything that followed. I owe a lot to Bill.”
In the 1980s, the couple created another of the all-time great detective series, Murder She Wrote , starring Angela Lansbury . It spanned 12 seasons.
