Wike Claps Back at Collapse Rumors: ‘I Didn’t Fall’

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has vehemently denied rumors circulating on social media about his collapse last week, calling them an attempt by certain individuals to gain cheap political advantage. Wike spoke out after inspecting several ongoing projects in the FCT, including the International Conference Centre (ICC), reaffirming his dedication to his responsibilities.

Responding to the speculations, Wike stated, “I don’t want to give any attention to people spreading rumors. I’m a human being; if there were any health issue, it would be a human, not a ghost, who would collapse. Unfortunately, I did not collapse.”

The unfounded rumors, which gained traction on X, claimed that Wike had collapsed at an event in Abuja last Friday and was rushed to a hospital. However, the minister made a public appearance days later, participating in a Sallah tribute to President Bola Tinubu, appearing in good health, which further dispelled concerns. Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, also dismissed the rumors as baseless.
