Kemi Adeosun is the former minister of finance of Nigeria and former chairman of the board of the African export-import Bank (Afreximbank).
Kemi Adeeosun was born on the 9th of March 1967 in London to Nigerian parents who hails from Ogun state, she earned a bachelor of science degree in economics from the university of east London and a postgraduate diploma in public financial management from the University of London, and she’s also a qualified chartered accountant.
Career
Kemi Adeosu began her career as an accounting assistant at British telecom in London, from 1989 till 1990, she then moved to Goodman Jones in London working as a senior audit officer from 1990 till 1993, she became the manager of internal audit at London underground, she became the official controller at chapel hill Denham management subsequently, managing director in 2010, Kemi Adeosun was appointed in Ogun state as the commissioner of finance in 2011, she maintained this role from 2011 to 2015, she was a key part of governor Ibikunle Amosun( the former governor of Ogun state) mission to build, which turned around economic fortunes of the state.
In November 2015 Kemi Adeosun was appointed Nigeria’s Minister of finance by Muhammed Buhari the president of Nigeria, she was elected chairman of the board during the annual general meeting Afreximbank in Abuja to commemorate its 25th anniversary, she also succeeded the outgoing chairman Ndagijimana uzziel minister of finance of Republic of Rwanda.
Nysc certificate scandal
Kemi Adeosun has revealed how she got the fake NYSC service certificate which she used to apply for the political position.
Kemi Adeosun revealed that she was unaware of the fact that the certificate was fake which led to her resignation as a minister and this made life more difficult for her.
On 7 July 2018, a report broke that Kemi had illegally obtained her NYSC exemption certificate to get into public office. On 9 July, NYSC Director of press and public relations Adeyemi released a statement that confirmed that Adeosun legitimately submitted a request for an exemption certificate, but also stated that investigations were still ongoing to verify the approval of the exemption on 14 September 2018, Afeosun Resigned as Minister of Finance in a written letter to the president due to the alleged NYSC certificate forgery scandal.
