One of his children, Adesola Omidina, broke the news of his death on his official Instagram handle on Monday afternoon, describing the comic death as sudden.
The veteran Nigerian actor whose real name is Babatunde Omidina, but often referred to as Baba Suwe, passed away at the age of 63.
Baba Suwe was born on the 22nd of August 1958 in Lagos Island, where he spent most of his childhood. He had his primary education at Jamaitul Islamial Primary School in Lagos and Children Boarding School, Oshogbo then proceeded to Adekanbi Commercial High School in Mile 12, where he further his secondary education.
Baba Suwe began acting in 1971 but came into the limelight after he featured in a movie titled, Omolasan, a film produced by Obalende. He became more popular after he featured in Iru Esin, produced by Olaiya Igwe in 1997.
The actor was one of the most successful comics in the Nollywood Industry as he featured and produced a lot of movies until his illness in 2019.
In 2011 Baba Suwe was arrested by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at Murtala Mohammed International Airport over the suspicion that he was trafficking drugs. Upon his arrest, he was in the custody of the NDLEA for three weeks, but no drugs were found on him.
The Veteran actor later revealed that the encounter with National Drug Law Enforcement Agency rendered him cripple.

The court also ordered NDLEA to pay baba Suwe a compensation of 25 million Naira, which the actor claimed he has not received due to the death of his lawyer.
In 2019 the legendary actor was diagnosed with chronic diabetes after which he solicited funds from the members of the public to help treat chronic diabetes in the United States.
The vice president of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who was among the many prominent Nigerians to donate gave the actor one million Naira.
After a long battle with ill health and recuperating, the famous actor was made a rebound in the Nollywood Industry when he played a role in one Yomi Fabiyi’s ‘Oba Shomolu’ in April 2021, The last role he played before his demise on Monday.
