Whatsapp Down! Users Faces Disruption In Service
WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging service owned by Meta is apparently experiencing disruption in service. Users of WhatsApp are temporarily unable to send or receive messages.
While there is no official response or acknowledgment from WhatsApp, there are reports that users are not being able to send or receive messages on the messaging platform.
The outage is affecting both personal chats as well as group chats. It currently seems impossible to send a message on WhatsApp groups, but personal chats also seem to be largely affected.
Downdetector, a website that tracks online outages across the globe, has shown a sharp spike in the number of users reporting WhatsApp’s outage. Downdetector is reporting a major spike with over 6000 reports online. Users are complaining that their messages are not getting delivered. Even when the messages are delivered, the app fails to highlight the delivery status.
RNN.NG could confirm that on the mobile app, messages are left undelivered and calls aren’t connecting. On the Web version, some users are getting logged out of the platform, with an error message popup saying, “Make sure your computer has an active Internet connection”.
#WhatsAppDown is already trending on Twitter, with users taking to the microblogging platform to share their frustrations and hilarious memes.
