What APC must do to win 2023 general election - Buhari
  • President Buhari explains that unity and cooperation is a prerequisite for victory in the 2023 general election for the ruling APC
  • Gov. Dapo Abiodun inaugurates 800-Man APC Campaign council

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, that unity within its ranks is the only panacea for victory in the 2023 general elections.

The President said unity and cooperation with one another is a prerequisite for victory in the elections.

President Buhari spoke in Daura on Friday when he received Dr. Dikko Radda, the governorship candidate of the APC, and Faruk Lawal Jobe, the Running Mate at his residence.

According to him, party leaders need “to sit together,” to avoid divisions and ensure unity in order to avoid defeat at the elections.

The President said he received frequent reports on the ongoing campaigns in Katsina State and felt happy that so much hard work was being put into the exercise.

President Buhari reiterated his determination to allow the reign of free, fair, and credible elections in the country, adding that the outcomes in Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun were testimonies of that resolution on his part.

He added that he felt honored by the visit and wished the party a very good outcome in the contests.

Ogun state Governor Dapo Abiodun Inaugurates 800-Man APC Campaign Council

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Saturday, inaugurated the 800-member campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The campaign council will be headed by the former governor of the State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, as the Grand Patron while his successor in office, Chief Gbenga Daniel will deputise him on the Council.

Abiodun urged the campaign council to engage in constructive and issue-based campaigns as stipulated in the electoral laws and rules of engagement.

He said, “I urge you all to work together as a team, even as we sell our programs and manifesto to the good people of Ogun State. We must work tirelessly as we did three years and six months ago.”

“We must engage in constructive and issue-based campaigns in line with the provisions of the electoral act and the rule of engagement. We have done more than enough projects to ease our campaign while we promise to do more for the benefit of the people of Ogun State if voted into power again.”

He told the council members to see their appointment as a result of their track records and contributions to the growth and development of the Ogun APC, adding that they are expected to live up to the expectation by winning the state for the progressives again in the presidential, gubernatorial, Senate, House of Reps and the House of Assembly elections in 2023.

The governor, who recalled how he and his campaign team faced a “life-threatening journey” to reclaim Ogun back for the people, from the “hands of a warlord who was already playing God” three years and six months ago, further urged the campaign team to ensure that the party’s campaign percolates to the grassroots for the good of the APC.
