Weekly Stock Update: Nigerian Exchange Group records 1.26% growth

The All-Share Index increased by 1.26% in the week ending November 2nd, 2022, leading to a bullish weekend for the Nigerian stock market. This is following the 6.88% growth recorded in the previous week.
This is in accordance with the data shown in the Nigerian Exchange Group’s weekly stock market report.
The benchmark ASI index rose 1.26% from the 47,554.34 points it had at the end of the previous week to close the week at 48,154.65 index points. The market capitalization also increased, ending the week at N26.229 trillion.
This brings the month-to-date performance of the Nigerian stock market to 1.04% and a year-to-date gain of 12.73%.
Performance of the stock market
The Exchange’s trading floor saw 16,183 transactions last week involving a total of 839.978 million shares worth N12.418 billion. This is more than the 711.618 million shares worth N15.338 billion that were traded in 16,662 deals over the previous week.
Similar to the previous week, the Financial Services Industry led the activity chart in terms of the volume of shares traded, transacting 616.627 million shares worth N4.305 billion in 7,609 deals, and thus contributing 73.41% and 34.67% to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.

The ICT Industry came in third with a turnover of 46.619 million shares worth N5.717 billion in 1,222 deals, followed by the Conglomerates Industry with a 78.470 million share turnover worth N260.581 million in 575 deals.
Regency assurance, FBNH, and FCMB, the top three stocks by volume, saw 256.521 million shares traded for N1.237 billion in 1,042 deals, accounting for 30.54% and 9.96% of the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.
Similarly, 14 indexes finished higher, while 3 indexes depreciated except for NGX ASeM and Sovereign Bond Indexes which remained unchanged.
