In a recent statement on June 28, 2023, Mr. Daboikiabo Warmate, Chairman of the CPDPL, expressed the group’s disapproval of Tambuwal’s candidacy for the position of Minority Leader in the 10th Senate. Warmate criticized Tambuwal’s actions during his tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives, accusing him of defecting from the PDP to the APC.
The group argued that Tambuwal cannot be trusted again and lacked the courage to be the Minority Leader based on his past behavior. They called for a mid-term convention and the dissolution of the party’s National Working Committee to bring in fresh ideas.
The group urged the Acting National Chairman, Amb. Umar Damagum, not to introduce Tambuwal as the Minority Leader. They emphasized the importance of the PDP’s integrity and voiced their support for members who genuinely stand for the party’s principles. Warmate praised Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State, for providing effective opposition during the APC-led government.
