Vinita Chandra Nair was born on September 8, 1981 in New York, New York. She is an American national and belongs to Asian-American ethnicity. According to our understanding, her parents were looking for a better opportunity and therefore, in the hope of a better future for Vinita, they moved to America. Then, after moving to America, the child gave birth to Nair, and the family lived in Colleyville, Texas.

From an early age, Nair had a flair for journalism and she later studied at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and graduated from the institution with a degree in journalism.

After graduating, Vinita immediately began working for WGEM-TV in Illinois as a general reporter. She was also working for the Chicago Public Access Network at the time. Nair was soon a sought-after industry reporter who began working for KOLN/KGIN-TV in Nebraska. She was the anchor of the daily morning and afternoon newscasts for the network

In 2007, Nair got a job at ABC News as an anchor and correspondent. After working with the network for over 4 years, Vinita was offered a position at CBS News in New York alongside Nancy Cordes . Since then, Nair has been working with the network and doing an outstanding job.

On January 25, 2012, Vinita and Osman were blessed with a baby boy. Osman comes from an Islamic background, so they decided to name their child Tahir which means purity.
