Tesla CEO Elon Musk who is the richest man in the world has revealed that advanced AI is a risk to the public and should be highly regulated because of the danger that it poses to humanity. Recall that Elon was in support of AI when initially invested in the sensational Openai that created ChatGpt which has taken over the wave of the internet after it launched. Also, the billionaire investor and founder also have had his company make a humanoid robot that operates on advanced AI which was unveiled at Tesla AI Day 2022.
In a recent interview, billionaire Elon Musk reaffirmed his view that there should be a ‘pause’ on the development of artificial intelligence and that the AI sector needed regulation.
In his word, “I’m in favor of AI regulation because I think advanced AI is a risk to the public. And for anything that’s a risk to the public, there needs to be some kind of referee. That referee is the regulator. And so I think that my strong recommendation is to have some regulation for AI. Well, I think there’s a real danger of digital superintelligence having negative consequences. And so if we are not careful in creating artificial general intelligence, we could have potentially a catastrophic outcome. Now, I think there’s a range of possibilities. I think the most likely outcome is positive for AI. But that’s not every possible outcome”.
