Biography
Vanessa Morgan was born in Ottawa, Ontario on the 23rd of March, 1992. Her mother is Scottish while her father is Tanzanian. She is the youngest of her parents’ three children — she has an older sister and an older brother.
Vanessa Morgan started singing at the age of 6, and she sang at community events and telethons. She also performed for Childhelp and was a regular guest entertainer for the College of the Desert scholarship foundation.
In 1999, she was dotted by a Hollywood agent, and her encounter earned her a scholarship at a Hollywood Acting Academy. Also in the same year, she won the African American Vocal Competition. She was also a member of the competitive NTA tennis program at the Ottawa Athletic Club.
In 2010, Vanessa Morgan graduated from Colonel By Secondary School and studied Philosophy at Queen’s University.

Vanessa Morgan made her acting debut in 2000 with the film, A Diva’s Christmas Carol and made another appearance in the film, Frankie & Alice in 2010. In 2007, she had her career breakthrough with her role as Amanda Pearce in The Latest Buzz comedy series and also performed the theme song for the series. In 2010, she played Marion Hawthorne in Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars film.
Then in 2011, Vanessa Morgan played Saray in the Teletoon/Disney Channel film, My Babysitter’s a Vampire, and also played in the TV series of the same name. In the same year, she appeared in Geek Charming and later reprised a role in season 2 of A.N.T. Farm Disney Channel comedy series for four episodes.
Come 2013, Vanessa Morgan appeared on Degrassi: The Next Generation for two episodes. And in 2014, she reprised a role in the MTV show, Finding Carter where she played Beatrix “Bird” Castro.
Vanessa Morgan joined the main cast of The Shannara Chronicles series as Lyria for the second season on Spike in 2017. Afterwards, she was cast to reprise the role of Toni Topaz in the Riverdale teen drama series.
