Unknown gunmen said to be bandits have abducted 40 Muslim worshipers while observing Thajud(vigil) in Jibia, Katsina State.
Although, resident put the number at 40, a leader in the town, Mallam Gide Dahiru said the figures of those abducted is around eleven made up of seven men, three women, and a boy.
More so, it was gathered that the bandits who did not fire any gunshot, stormed the area around 2 am and kidnapped the worshippers in a mosque located in the outskirt of the town.

“The bandits arrived silently a few minutes after midnight. They entered the mosque and marched the victims out. During the operation, some gang members positioned themselves within the vicinity of the mosque,” one of the residents said.
“It was when they were leaving the mosque with the last victim that one of them shot into the air and they then moved along the Kaoran-namoda Highway. The gunshot attracted residents and security operatives who later arrived at the mosque,” he added
Security operatives including the police and soldiers had taken positions in the town. However, the state police spokesperson, SP Gambo Isah is yet to respond to messages from newsmen.
