Admission Requirements to Study Law in Nigeria
To gain admission into a law program in Nigerian universities, you need to meet specific requirements. These include minimum educational qualifications, a good score in the UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination), and possibly additional entrance exams or interviews.
Direct Entry Requirement for Law:
- (i) At least two (2) A’ Level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects.
- (ii) NCE/ND/First Degree (Second Class Lower).
UTME Requirement for Law:
- Five (5) O Level credit passes in English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics, and any other two (2) arts or social science subjects.
UTME Subject combination for Law:
- Use of English and any other three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects.
O’Level Subject Combination for Law:
- English, Mathematics, Literature in English, and any other two (2) Arts or Social Science Subjects
Please note that the Council of Legal Education and the Board of Study for the admission of students to the Nigerian Law School, as well as for entry into the legal profession, do not recognize any study of law conducted through correspondence, part-time, or in non-conventional settings outside of full-time study at a university.
