Social media challenge is becoming a prevalent tradition in this modern-day culture, in 2021, we saw a plethora of viral internet trends and social media challenges ranging from the dangerous crate challenge to the “Buss it” challenge, Silhouette challenge, and many others. Two months into 2022, the internet has begun to experience another surge of viral trends, which is why we’ve decided to compile a list of the top trending social media challenge in 2022, in case you are willing to participate.

1. “In  2022” challenge

A few hours into the new year, the internet began its never-ending social media tradition, with the In 2022 challenge,  The challenge uses a filter that randomly reveals an outcome of something you should do in the new year and the answers are simultaneously random and hilarious.

Top celebrities like Lizzo, Bretman Rock Lili Reinhart, Noah Beck, Charli Damelio, and Dixie Damelio took part in the challenge making it one of the top trending social media challenges in 2022

2.  Confession Challenge

In January, the confession challenge was birthed on several social media platforms, just as the name suggests, the challenge enables social media to share some of their most ugly dirtiest secrets.

Several social media users piled up behind the trending ‘confessions’ hashtag to offload some deadweight from their closet. The challenge rose to number 2 on the Twitter trend table with over 20 thousand confessions from different users and trended on Tiktok with over 1.7 million videos uploaded using the Confession challenge hashtag.

2. Drop Challenge

Drop Challenge is another trending social media challenge in 2022, The Challenge sees people going about their normal daily activities to the tune of “Yoncé” by Beyoncé— at work, in the home, out shopping, and more—only to suddenly squat down while staring at the camera. Often, those around them are left shocked at the move.

The  Drop Challenge was created by comedian Atsuko Okatsuka by accident on January 3. Okatsuka posted a video, of her performing the move in public in front of her grandmother, who appeared both embarrassed and entertained by it all.
