With recent blockbuster hits like Venom: Suicide Squad, Nobody, and Dune demonstrating that Americans are willing to go to the movies, upcoming films like Eternals, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, King Richard, and House of Gucci have reason to be optimistic about their box office prospects.

List of Top American Movies in 2021

Have a look at the 9 American Movies that broke the internet in 2021:

  1. The Suicide SquadTop 9 American Movies for the Year 2021

The Suicide Squad movie is about a group of people who commit suicide. James Gunn, the writer-director, has a hideously beautiful mind, and we now get to see it fully released on a superhero project. Yes, with the Guardians of the Galaxy flicks, the filmmaker made many people cry with a CGI tree and a talking raccoon.

The Suicide Squad is structured similarly to the men and women on a mission ’60s capers’ on which its director grew up, but with a filthy and twisted mentality.

The Suicide Squad showcases well-known characters like Margot Robbie’s seductive Harley Quinn and the dregs and rejects of DC Comics, particularly David Dastmalchian’s Polka-Dot Man and Daniela Melchior’s Ratcatcher 2. Regardless of the box numbers, this is one of the best superhero pictures ever created and will go down in history as a masterpiece.

2. The Green Knight

Top 9 American Movies for the Year 2021

David Lowery’s beautiful Arthurian epic straddles the line between John Boorman’s opulent Excalibur and Robert Bresson’s stripped-down Lancelot du Lac. The Green Knight is a medieval fairytale about magic, murder, heroism, and storytelling. Lowery’s interpretation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight depicts a drunken, immature Sir Gawain (Dev Patel) on his journey to find the tree bark-covered Green Knight, whom he beheaded a year earlier and who now owes him a back blow as part of their “game.”

3. Can You Bring it On

Top 9 American Movies for the Year 2021

Bill T. Jones could have been a poet if he hadn’t been one of the great modern dance choreographers of the previous fifty years. The best dance is poetry in action, as his frequently transcendent work demonstrates, and its highest aim as an art form is to utilize the body to express what language cannot. Jones could also dance with his words, as proven by a spectacular statement delivered to open “Can You Bring It: Bill T. Jones and D-Man in the Waters,” a touching new documentary about one of his most enduring works.

4. Nobody

Top 9 American Movies for the Year 2021

Ilya Naishuller is the director (Hardcore Henry) of Nobody, and it was release on March 26, 2021. Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, RZA, and Aleksei Serebryakov star in this film.

The following are some of the reasons why it’s among the top 2021 movies: Bob Odenkirk fights up a bunch of thugs on a public bus and then dismantles an entire army of gangsters in a factory in this film. Whether you like Odenkirk from Better Call Saul or Mr. Show, the notion of witnessing the 58-year-old go full John Wick in a film written by John Wick writer Derek Kolstad is exciting.

5. Barb and Star Go To Visit Vista Del Mar

Top 9 American Movies for the Year 2021

It may sound strange to declare any film an immediate cult classic, but “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar” is such a wild outlier, a deep, flawed assembly of crazy wit that audiences will happily tear into for years. “Barb and Star,” bumps and all, is a completely unexpected mix of “MacGruber,” “Pop Star,” and “Despicable Me” (yes, really) that functions entirely on its own wavelength.

Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, who co-wrote and appear in the film as the titular Barb and Star, seem ecstatic to be able to bring this craziness to reality.

While it may sound like fodder for cheap laughs and jabs, Wiig and Mumolo clearly care about their BFF characters, and Barb and Star’s commitment to their friendship is the film’s one constant.

6. Dune

Top 9 American Movies for the Year 2021

Dune is an epic that values size, of vision, of sound, of enormous import, above all else, proving that sometimes more is more. Denis Villeneuve’s picture, based on Frank Herbert’s iconic 1965 sci-fi novel (or, at least, the first half of it), is massive in every way, setting its story of interplanetary political intrigue, chosen-one prophecy, and coming-of-age adventure in concrete pavers.

Villeneuve favors massive scale, from the colossal ships that take characters to strange new worlds to the sand worms that hide beneath the surface of desolate Arrakis to Hans Zimmer’s deafening roars and gloomy silences. That goes for his story, which follows young Paul (Timothée Chalamet) as he progresses from heir to messiah when his father (Oscar Isaac) is granted sovereignty of sandy Arrakis and its valuable spice supplies. Treachery, terror, and conflict ensue, all of which is thrillingly staged by the director, who, with the help of an all-star ensemble that includes James Brolin, Jason Momoa, Stellan Sarsgrd, Javier Bardem,

7. Judas and the Black Messiah

Top 9 American Movies for the Year 2021

Fred Hampton was assassinated with the knowledge and cooperation of law enforcement officials from both the federal and local levels. The fact that Judas and the Black Messiah made this widely known is reason enough to think about it. However, the fact that director Shaka King recounts Hampton’s narrative so well here elevates his picture to one of the most gripping crime dramas in recent memory, albeit with the FBI’s illegal COINTELPRO operation as the main criminal element.

Judas, told from the perspective of the man who spied on the Black Panthers and eventually facilitated the raid that killed Hampton, exudes a despondent quality that can still feel electrifying whenever, that is, whenever the Black Panther chairman enters the stage. Although Kaluuya deserved his Oscar, it’s LaKeith Stanfield’s neurotic performance as Bill O’Neal, the unfortunate guy pushed into being a snitch while still a child, that stays with you long after the credits have rolled.

8. Cruella

Top 9 American Movies for the Year 2021

In this bright London-set comedy, Emma Stone plays a punk rock designer in the vein of Vivienne Westwood, which is ostensibly a precursor to 101 Dalmatians. In actuality, you’ll have a lot more fun if you play it as a solo.

Estella, a rising fashionista, impresses one of the industry’s top designers, The Baroness (Emma Thompson), and lands a coveted position at her world-famous fashion firm. When Estella uncovers a dark truth from her own history, she transforms into the extravagant alter-ego Cruella and sets out to out-fashion The Baroness at every opportunity.

Cruella is a high-octane show with booming tunes and fantastic costumes, but it’s the sparring between the two Emmas that really gets the crowd going. Cruella de Vil is a legend in her own movies, regardless of whether or not she has a future as a puppy killer.

9. Psycho Goreman

Top 9 American Movies for the Year 2021

The movie follows annoying little shit Mimi (Nita-Josee Hanna) who bullies her brother Luke (Owen Myre) mercilessly. After defeating him in a game of “crazy ball,” Luke’s punishment is to dig his own grave, but instead the pair discover an artifact which turns out to be the key to controlling a universal evil imprisoned on earth for trying to destroy the galaxy.

So of course Mimi names him Psycho Goreman and forces him to hang out with her family and friends despite his insistence that he will bathe in their blood the moment he is freed.
