  1. He grew up in the neighborhood of his colleagues Lloyd Banks and 50 Cent.
  2. Tony gave his first performance at age 12 while he was in junior high school.
  3. He took inspiration from Al Pacino’s character Tony Montana in the crime drama Scarface for his stage name.
  4. Tony has done activism work for AIDS, including doing the Hip Hop for HIV Awareness concert.
  5. In December 2002, he was arrested for misappropriating a gun along with his friend 50 Cent. Police found a Colt AR 15 and a Glock 20 pistol in the trunk of his car. Police subsequently discovered that an outstanding arrest warrant existed in his name on a previous charge that saw him spend all of 2003 in the Bundeswehr’s Lakeview Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility .
  6. He was eventually released from prison in January 2004, but was arrested the following day for possession of a forged passport. His fellow G-Units and Eminem started the Free Yayo Campaign to get him out of prison.
  7. In March 2007, he was arrested after it was alleged he assaulted Jimmy “Henchmen” Rosemond’s 14-year-old son. He decided not to plead guilty and prosecutors eventually decided to drop the charges.
  8. In April 2007, while he was serving house arrest for assault, his mother’s home was sprayed with bullets.
  9. In 2008, Rosemond’s son’s mother filed a lawsuit against Yayo and 50 Cent.
  10. After the 2010 Haiti earthquake, he worked with a number of charities to raise funds. He was involved in the relief work.
