Tom Hardy
Who will be, will be? It can be…anyone. Tom Hardy has shown an incredible ability to transform into any character, so it’s not easy to stick with his natural physicality. His vast creative energy seems inexhaustible, Hardy, he works hard, very hard.
Edward Thomas Hardy, better known as Tom Hardy, was born in Hammersmith, London, England, on September 15, 1977. The only son of a writer and publicist father, and an artist mother, his youth was not exactly exemplary, he moved in environments close to crime, and played dangerously with drugs and alcohol. After trying out in the modeling world, and studying at the Richmond Dramatic School and the London Dramatic Center, he went off to war, so to speak. To the war on the small screen, as he was recruited for the Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg miniseries Blood Brothers (2001), which was also co-produced by the BBC, which reproduces the Normandy landings. There must have been something bellicose in this young man, who would be equally required toBlack Hawk shot down ( Ridley Scott , 2001), with the Americans having a hard time in Somalia, and for an installment of a saga with planetary confrontations, Star Trek: Nemesis (2002).
And in 2003 Hardy went from warfare to thriller, with The Dot on the i , a mediocre Spanish-British co-production, and The Mystery of Wells , a failed period title. It was the time when the actor tried to raise his head from his addictive problems, which did not prevent his failed marriage, his union with Sarah Ward, which began in 1999, ended five years later. He did find a kind of therapy in the theater, as he created his own underground company, Shotgun, going so far as to direct a play written by his mother, “Blue on Blue”. He has never stopped his activity on stage, which gives him great satisfaction and where he has developed his chameleonic capacity, which has stood out so much in the movies and television series in which he has worked.
He has attracted attention on the small screen in his country, where he played Bill Sikes in a version of “Oliver Twist”, and above all playing Stuart Shorter in Stuart: A Life Backwards (2007), a character with muscular dystrophy and author of criminal misdeeds, with various addictions, meant it for the actor to explore his own problems to deliver a stupendous performance, which was nominated for a BAFTA.
Without a doubt, this role made many filmmakers think that Tom Hardy was the ideal actor to compose any character, since his capacity for transformation was incredible; yes, in secondary roles. This is how Guy Ritchie understood it , who featured him in the crime gangster movie Rocknrolla (2008). Although curiously, now he would be present in several films with the common criminal element, there are The Code ( Mimi Leder , 2008), together with Antonio Banderas , the prisoner movie Bronson ( Nicolas Winding Refn , 2008) and the amazing, visually and narratively , Origin (2008), where he was directed by Christopher Nolan. He has claimed him again for his third installment of Batman, The Dark Knight: The Legend Reborn .
Hardy has continued to work on television, be it in a revision of the classic “Wuthering Heights”, or in the crime series The Take (2009) . Among his works to come, one with absolute prominence stands out, Warrior , where he is a boxer trained by his alcoholic father, a former boxer who is going to train him. He has also directed McG, along with Reese Witherspoon in the spy movie This Means War , and has a presence in a new version of the novel by John le Carré“Coilsmith, tailor, soldier, spy.” It is seen that now they play espionage titles. And Hardy, honoring his last name, works hard, he is always involved in a thousand and one projects. And it must be hard if he ends up playing Mad Max, the warrior of the future whose return to the screens is always talked about and nothing is ever materialized.
Hardy is currently engaged to actress Charlotte Riley , a co-star in the aforementioned Wuthering Summit . And she has a son, Louis, from her previous relationship with Rachael Speed.
