TOM FRANCO- EARLY LIFE, EDUCATION

Tom Franco was born Thomas Andrew Franco on April 14, 1980 in Palo Alto, California. His mother Betsy is a writer and incidental actor like her son. Likewise, his father Douglas Eugene Franco was a philanthropic entrepreneur.

Franco attended Palo Alto High School and graduated in 1998. He also graduated in 2002 with a fine arts degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Subsequently, Franco joined the California College of the Arts in Oakland for another degree in ceramics which he later dropped out. Tom considers ceramic sculpture his niche.

When he was a teenager, Tom and his brother James joined and took classes at a local art center. In addition, he began to paint at the age of 15.

Tom spent his childhood with his two brothers James and Dave, both famous actors.

TOM FRANCO – WEDDING

Franco was 33 when he married 56-year-old singer/camera worker Julia Lazar. The two were believed to have been romantically involved for four years before finally getting married in 2014.

The two would obviously look like an awkward couple to the world, but they still managed to get married. But unfortunately, Julia died of liver cancer a month after their wedding. It was at the hospital that the two pronounced their vows.

Tom and Julia together founded the Firehouse Art Collective in Berkeley, California. In 2015, a year later, he married Iris Torres.

The artistic talent of the Franco brothers came from history. Their grandparents ran the Verne Gallery in Cleveland. Franco’s career in filmography began with his 1990 debut in the comedy horror film Basket Case 2.

Consecutively, Franco made “A Peace of History (2005)” and “The Devil Wears a Toupet (2007)”. In the 2017 film The Disaster Artist, Tom stars alongside his brother James. His sculpting work is satisfying enough for him to pursue further as a passion and profession.
