Tinubu’s Top Aide Quits Amid Heated Clash With Minister

Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed

Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Special Adviser to Vice President Shettima, has suddenly resigned from President Tinubu’s government—and the drama behind his exit is explosive!

Highly placed sources reveal Baba-Ahmed walked away two weeks ago, though the presidency is yet to confirm his departure. The former Northern Elders Forum (NEF) spokesman was a key face of the administration, often representing the VP at major events like January’s high-profile democracy conference.

But his tenure was far from smooth. Tensions exploded in April after Defence Minister Bello Matawalle blasted northern appointees—including Baba-Ahmed—for “failing to defend” Tinubu’s government. The clash turned personal when Baba-Ahmed hit back, daring Matawalle to “show his own achievements” instead of attacking the NEF.

Matawalle fired a final shot: “Every Tinubu appointee must promote the government’s work, not stir division.”
