President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Nasir Naeem Abdulsalam as the new Managing Director of Ajaokuta Steel Company, marking a fresh chapter in Nigeria’s industrial revival plans.

The announcement, made on Friday night through a statement by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information in the SGF’s office, confirmed that Abdulsalam’s appointment takes effect from April 3, 2025. The move is aligned with the provisions of the amended 2008 Act governing the salaries and allowances of certain political and judicial office holders.

Abdulsalam previously served as Technical Adviser to the Minister of Steel Development and Special Assistant (Academics) to the DG of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS).

In his new role, President Tinubu has tasked him with breathing life into the long-idle Ajaokuta Steel Company, using his vast knowledge of the steel industry to kickstart industrial and economic development in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The President envisions the steel giant becoming a hub of both upstream and downstream industrial activity, positioning Nigeria as Africa’s industrial powerhouse.
