Tinubu Congratulates APC on Edo State Governorship Victory

President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, for his triumph in Saturday’s Edo state governorship election.

Okpebholo was officially declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday after defeating his rivals.

In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu praised the APC national leaders, party governors, and Edo State leaders for their efforts in securing the win.

He noted that the victory is a reflection of the people’s faith in the APC’s progressive ideals, economic reforms, and commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.

The President urged Okpebholo to approach his victory with humility, emphasizing that “this is not a time to gloat but a call to service.”

He encouraged the governor-elect to reach out to his political opponents and work toward uniting the people of Edo to foster development in the state.

Tinubu also commended the other electoral candidates for their role in promoting Nigeria’s democracy.

He remarked that peaceful political contests like this one “showcase Nigeria as a stable democracy.”

Moreover, Tinubu praised the people of Edo for their peaceful and orderly conduct during the election, highlighting the progress Nigeria has made in its democratic journey over the past 25 years.

He stated, “I commend INEC and our security agencies for working round the clock to conduct a successful, peaceful, and largely hitch-free exercise.”

He added that INEC has once again demonstrated its commitment to organizing free and fair elections across the country.

The President encouraged any aggrieved parties to seek legal redress, urging everyone to respect the democratic process.
