Tim Duncan was born on April 25, 1976 and is 40 years old. Tim was born in Christiansted, US Virgin Islands as Timothy Theodore ‘Tim’ Duncan. Tim is the son of mother Ione Duncan and William Duncan. During his childhood he had a great interest in swimming, but later after his mother’s death at age 14; His brother-in-law inspired him to take up basketball. Tim Duncan joined St. Dunstan’s Episcopal High School and played to an average rating of 25 points per game. And then he joined Wake Forest University.
In 1993, Duncan joined Wake Forest University and was held scoreless during his first game. In the 1995-96 NCAA season, he was given the opportunity to show his leadership qualities with just four losses all season. For his performance that season he was voted Defensive Player and ACC Player of the Year with averages of 19.1 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.
Duncan began his NBA career in 1997, coming from the San Antonio Spurs. Duncan along with David Robinson was the best player on the team and they were even known as Twin Tower to the team. In 1998 he was also voted an NBA All-Star Game. For his performance of 21.1 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.5 blocks per game, he was also named NBA Rookie of the Year. Because of his influential performance, he too was given the chance to lead the Spurs team from 2003 to 2007.
Duncan has also represented his country at various events; in 1998 he was selected for the United States National Basketball World Championship. In 2000, he was included in the squad for the Sydney Olympics, but ruled it out due to a knee injury. Duncan also had the opportunity to appear at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
