Great star of American television whose comic roles in Christmas movies catapulted him to fame during the 90s. His filmography does not include great works but some entertaining family films do. He is also known for being the original voice of the beloved and endearing Buzz Lightyear.

Tim Allen was born in Denver, United States, in 1953. He studied at Western Michigan University, where he obtained a degree in Audiovisual Production. In 1978 he was arrested at an airport and imprisoned for two years for a drug-related offence. He was married to Laura Diebel, from whom he separated in 1999. As a result of that marriage, Katherine, his first daughter, was born. He remarried in 2006 to actress Jane Hajduk.

In 1981 he made a theater tour of the United States until he became famous thanks to the leading role in the series Un botched at home (1990). Allen played a handyman family man and TV host obsessed with fixing up his own home. The series had 204 episodes until it ended in 1999.

He made the leap to the cinema in 1994 with ¡Vaya Santa Claus! , nice comedy that made him extremely popular. The movie was about how a bored toy salesman was forced to take the place of Santa Claus. This crazy Christmas adventure was followed by mediocre films such as Hard and Hard (1997) and From Jungle to Jungle (1997). Two years later, he shared the lead with Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver in the hilarious Heroes Out of Orbit , a sci-fi parody that revolves around fans of cult series, Star Trek -style.. Tim Allen did not try his luck in other genres and continued to star in comedies for young people, in those years the actor was a sure bet to succeed at the box office. Thus, in 2001 he starred in Un padre de cuidado , where he continued to make the audience laugh through original gags.

Christmas was knocking on his door again and the actor did not hesitate to accept the role of Santa Claus again in Santa Claus 2 (2002), a failed sequel that, despite bad reviews, obtained good box office data. Two years later the snow and Christmas lights returned with the premiere of A Crazy Christmas , where actress Jamie Lee Curtis gave the replica. The year 2006 was quite productive since he came to release up to three films, yes, each one worse: Little Big Heroes was a real disaster; with Santa Claus 3 the most overacted and heavy Allen put on the red suit of the king of winter; and baby i’m a dogit turned out to be a family comedy that didn’t get much attention.

In 2007, he starred with John Travolta, William H. Macy and Martin Lawrence in Wild Hogs , a funny movie at times and whose only strong point lies in the cast made up of veteran actors who wanted to make it clear that they were still fit and could continue to make people laugh. , or at least try… Just a year later, Allen surprised by participating in Red Belt , martial arts drama directed by the prestigious David Mamet . Added to these titles are The Six Wives of Henry Lefay (2009) and Crazy on the Outside (2010), both comedies that feature the actor as the leading star. He decided to return to the small screen when he landed the lead role inOne for all (2011), where he plays a family man again.

We must not forget Allen’s facet as a dubbing actor. Americans think of him when they say: “To infinity and Beyond”, since he was in charge of giving voice to Buzz Lightyear, the most beloved galactic toy in movie history, in the excellent Toy Story trilogy .

Although he specializes in comedic roles, his personal life hasn’t been as funny. Allen was arrested again in 1997 for drunk driving. He was sentenced to one year in prison with probation and forced to enter a rehabilitation clinic.
