Thomas Summers

He created numerous variety, music, and comedy shows, and discovered comedians such as Chiquito de la Calzada and Paz Padilla. The producer and screenwriter Tomás Summers died on April 23, 2022, at the age of 76, in Seville, his hometown, due to complications from the coronavirus.

Brother of the scriptwriter and television presenter Guillermo Summers , and of the renowned director Manuel Summers , Tomás was therefore also the uncle of David Summers , vocalist of Hombres G and son of the latter. He made his debut on TVE in 1963, writing the programs “Todo” and “Fórmula todo”, together with Antonio Fraguas Forges and his brother Guillermo. He also began working as a documentalist and scriptwriter in “El unreal Madrid” or the magazine “Siempre en domingo”.

He created Summers Producciones, his own production company. In 1989, Tomás Summers was successful on Canal Sur with the program Saque Bola , which lasted two seasons. He created other projects, such as “Genius and figure”, and his face became popular as a presenter of “We make humor”. 

Shortly before his death,  Tomás Summers  had just premiered “Esto es lo que hay”, also for Canal Sur, which combines humor and music.
