THE WANTED GROUP

The Wanted are an Anglo-Irish musical group made up of members Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes.

THE WANTED GROUP

In 2009, Jayne Collins held mass auditions attended by over 1,000 people, it took over nine months. Only George, Parker and Sykes were involved at first, and Kaneswaran and McGuiness joined later throughout the process. The band revealed in their autobiography that after being told about the lineup, seven more people were re-auditioned before being signed to Maximum Artist Management and Geffen Records.

On July 25, 2010, they released their first single, “All Time Low”. The song reached number one in the UK and spent 17 weeks in the UK top 40. Their second single ‘Heart Vacancy’ was released on October 17, 2010. It peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart.

The band’s self-titled debut album was released on October 25, 2010 and reached number four in the UK and has since been certified Platinum in the UK.

In 2014, the band embarked on their first world tour, the Word of Mouth Tour. The tour included shows in the UK, Europe, USA and Canada. After the tour, the band announced that they would be taking a break and continuing their solo efforts. After their hiatus, The Wanted guys each went on to pursue their own solo endeavors – all of which are singing or acting gigs.

After The Wanted went on hiatus, Max decided to take a stint in the acting world and appeared in six episodes of the hit American television series Glee as a bully named Clint. Max has also appeared on the TV survival show Bear Grylls: Mission Survive and is still writing music, so if you could call the other guys up and paste in some new singles that would be awesome Max. Thank you!

Nathan has become a huge solo star. After supporting Little Mix on tour and working with Ariana Grande, Nathan released his debut album ‘Unfinished Business’ to huge acclaim. He spawned several hit singles including ‘Twist’ and ‘Famous’ and he even performed at Capital’s Summertime Ball for seven consecutive years (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 with The Wanted, 2014 as guest of Jessie J, 2015 and 2016 as a solo artist).

The most notable success for Jay since The Wanted came in the form of his Strictly Come Dancing winners trophy. Jay won round 13 in 2015 alongside his professional dance partner Aliona Vilani and was definitely a favorite with the voting crowd. Following that triumph, Jay starred in the West End production of the classic Tom Hanks film Big in early 2017. We’re excited to see what’s on the horizon for him.

Siva continued to focus on music. He wrote songs for many artists, including British Eurovision contestants Jack & Joe, and moved to live in America.

Tom has landed himself a role in a musical since The Wanted went on hiatus. Tom plays the lead role of Danny Zuko in Grease and apparently loves life. Tom also released a dance track called ‘Fireflies’ in 2014, alongside Richard Rawson and appeared on TV shows Celebrity Masterchef and The Jump.

WHY DID THE WANTED BREAK UP – WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WANTED

The Wanted didn’t see another top 40 hit on the Hot 100 after ‘Glad You Came’, and One Direction continued on a fast path to the 21st century equivalent of Beatlemania. As their success began to wane (at least in the US) and their competition skyrocketed, The Wanted announced in January 2014 that following the conclusion of their Word of Mouth World Tour, they would be going on hiatus. .

The Wanted Max George

“All the experience I had with The Wanted, traveling around the world, meeting new people, fans, it was so high. So when it ended, it took me maybe three, four months. I felt a little lost, to be honest. I moved on from all this craziness and what I couldn’t even have dreamed had happened. Then, all of a sudden, it wasn’t there anymore. Those guys I had grown so close to for so long, they were gone. It was a bit difficult, actually, for me – a panic happened. I spent time with my family and discussed what I wanted to do. Maybe four months later, I decided to move to the United States and get into acting, take a break from music.

I moved to LA in the summer of 2014 and the day after I arrived I auditioned for Glee. I landed the role – it was supposed to be for one episode, and then I ended up doing all of Season 6, which was one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. I worked with Jane Lynch and Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele. While I was doing this, I got an offer to do some music again.

I decided that it had been a year since I had done anything musically – I felt, I had done an acting stint, and I wanted to return to music. I felt that music was always my number one, music was always going to happen. It was either acting or singing, and that was it for me, really. I really didn’t think of anything else.

So I started writing again. I signed a recording contract. I’ve been working on my own music for almost three years now. It’s a bit of both. I think whenever I did stuff for The Wanted, whether I was writing or just acting, it always felt very “me” to me anyway. I think there’s definitely something new there. But I worked with so many great people, I went back to people I worked with during The Wanted. I worked a lot with Steve Mac and Ed Drewett, who did “Glad You Came”. I worked a lot with Jason Derulo, who is great, I became a good friend of his for the last two years.

I’m really excited. I have no expectations, I just want to see what happens. Put it out there, so if people like it, then it’s fine. And there are auditions going on, of course, I had to turn down a few movie roles just for timing. We’re still finishing up, we’re just putting the finishing touches on some things, but hopefully it should be [released] this summer. ‘

The Wanted Nathan Sykes

“I remember having a conversation with my mum [after the start of the break]. I was in the kitchen, finished the call when we all agreed to take a break. She came out to me and said, ‘What do you want to do? ” I was like, ‘I want to make music. ” And she was like, ‘What’s stopping you? “So thank you mom, for the good advice. [Laughs.] That was the transition for me – The Wanted is on hiatus. I’m going to do what I love to do, which is make music and see where that takes me. Especially for me, it took me down a path where I’ve never been happier.

I think the Wanted was a mix of our five musical interests and musical tastes. So when we were writing songs, I was personally, as a composer, I was writing for five voices – I wasn’t just writing for myself – and I was hoping that they could sing what I was writing . I make very different choices as a soloist. We wrote a lot as a collection. I always say I was 20% The Wanted, but 100% myself.

I’m just writing album two at the moment. It’s a very exciting time for me. Unfinished Business was a statement of my intention sonically and where I wanted to go as an artist, what path I wanted to take as an artist, I think Unfinished Business did a lot of that. I always get messages, people who are still discovering it and people who weren’t necessarily fans of The Wanted.

I am very happy to write the second disc. I go back and forth to LA, I do writing sessions, things like that, and I write here in London. So it all comes together and I’m really solidifying the sounds and really telling my story of the last year and a half. It’s really me at the moment. I’m a bit of a recluse when I write. [Laughs.] So I kind of hid as much as possible.

The sounds I created for the second record, it’s a progression from the first album and I’m so excited about it. I think I plan to [release it] this year or early next year. There was a lot of horn [on Unfinished Business], so it’s going to kind of expand on that, and also show the dynamic of the album. Lyrically, it’s just very honest, which is what I always try to be. That’s as honest as I can get. ‘

Jay McGuiness wanted him

“I’m a thespian, honey! No seriously, I appeared – and sort of won – Strictly Come Dancing in the UK, and have been singing, dancing and performing for a living ever since. I got my first theatrical role playing Josh Baskin in the musical version of Tom Hanks’ movie, BIG, which was a lot of fun. And I’ve done a few song and dance shows recently. I have a few projects we’re working on now for next year, so keep busy.

I was in performing arts school when I auditioned for the band, so I always had a singing and dancing career in my head somewhere. I didn’t have many opportunities to dance in the group – well, zero, in fact. We were terrible collectively, so it’s good to have that back. ‘

Tom Parker wanted him

“I took a little second after we took a break to figure out what was important to me. Traveling far was such a big part of the group, so I mainly focused on things that are suitable for being closer to home. I’ve had a few television appearances and took on my first UK theater role last year, playing Danny Zuko in Grease, which was a lot of fun.

I really had no idea that I would have played a theater role seven years ago. It was totally off my radar, but I think that’s the beauty of this industry. It gives you opportunities that push you out of your comfort zone. »

Siva Kaneswaran the wanted

“There are two things that I focus on that the fans know, because they know everything [laughs]. My two loves – music and theatre.

I am currently working hard in the studio. I’ve written songs for other artists and now living in Los Angeles has opened the door for me to create music for movies. Studying the art of theater has allowed me to express myself differently and use my influence for greater good. I recently participated in the casting of a film called Where We Go From Here, which tackles important issues regarding gun violence – which I am very proud to raise awareness of. Later this year I will also be shooting a movie which is top secret for now, but I can’t wait to share with you all!

I have always liked to receive people and being part of the group has allowed me to do so. I felt so lucky to have been able to express myself creatively while doing good for the fans.
