The House of Rep ordered Buhari to Return £4.2m Ibori Loot To Delta State
The House of Representatives has charged the Federal Executive Government to return the £4.2million recovered from James Ibori to Delta State.
The House of Representatives has charged the Federal Executive Government to return the £4.2million recovered from James Ibori to Delta State.
The lawmakers in their statement on Wednesday noted that the funds were looted from Delta State and should be rightly returned to the state. They further stated that funds are needed for the infrastructural development of the state.
The decision was reached after a motion of urgent public importance which was sponsored by all the lawmakers from Delta State.
The lawmakers representing Delta State, however, stated that the total money is £6.2 million and not £4.2 million as is being reported.
The House also asked the Federal Ministry of Finance to direct the Attorney General of Federation, Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and give the House all particulars relating to the recovered money.
However, it has been earlier reported that the Federal Government says the £4.2m loot recovered from James Ibori, former governor of Delta state, will be used to fund infrastructural projects such as the second Niger bridge, Lagos–Ibadan, and Abuja–Kano expressways.
