No fewer than ten persons as been recorded dead, 300 injured while many are still missing after a tornado hit Wuhan in China on Friday.

Moreso, the disaster was caused by extreme weather conditions that hit the city in the province of Hubei at around 8:40 pm – causing trees to snap and construction sheds to topple.

Official Xinhua news agency added that none of the injured people was in a life-threatening condition.

Vehicles were crushed by falling objects, trees uprooted, buildings partially destroyed and electricity pylons felled, leaving more than 26,000 homes without power.

The gale damaged two construction cranes, one of which toppled onto the site below, causing significant damage.

According to an initial investigation by local authorities on Saturday morning, houses of 27 households have collapsed, and those of 130 households were damaged.

Two tower cranes and 8,000 square metres of construction site sheds also suffered damage.
