TEDY BRUSCHI: BIO, FAMILY, EARLY CAREER

The former footballer was born on June 9, 1973 in San Francisco, California. He has mixed ethnicity from Bedonia, Italy on his parental side and Filipino ancestry on his mother’s side. However, he did not reveal any information about his parents. Regarding his education, he attended Roseville High School. During his school days, he wrote about football, wrestling, and high school athletics. For the Roseville Tigers, he became an all-conference selection as a defensive tackle.

After that, he attended the University of Arizona and played for the Arizona Wildcats football team from 1991 to 1995. He finished his college football career with 185 total tackles and had 74 tackles for losses, six fumbles and tied the NCAA IA division sack record. with 52 bags. In 1994 and 1995, he was recognized as a consensus first-team All-American. Additionally, he won the 1995 Morris Trophy as the Pacific-10 Conference’s top defensive lineman.

TEDY BRUSCHI: PROFESSIONAL CAREER AND PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

In 1996, the New England Patriots selected him in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft and played as a linebacker. Until 2008 he played with the team, at that time he ranked third on the team with 17 special teams tackles. Additionally, he recorded two sacks in Super Bowl XXXI against the Green Bay Packers. Prior to his NFL career, he was selected for the East-West Shrine Bowl Game. Later in 2002, he was voted defensive captain for the season by his teammates.

Three days after playing the 2005 Pro Bowl, he was taken to the hospital which was later diagnosed with a mild stroke. After his discharge from the hospital, he played on October 29 against the Buffalo Bills. Afterwards, he was also named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week. He did not play the first match of the 2006 season as he underwent surgery on August 8 after breaking his right scaphoid early in training. In 2008, he played 13 games and was named defensive captain by his teammates.

After playing 13 seasons in the NFL, he announced his retirement on August 31, 2009 at a press conference. He later joined ESPN as an analyst and was also inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame which was held at halftime of a Thursday Night Football game in September 2013.

TEDY BRUSCHI: PERSONAL LIFE AND WIFE

He is a married man who married his college sweetheart he first met at the University of Arizona. They have since started dating. After a few years, they got married on June 27, 1997 in the presence of their close friends and parents. The couple share three children from their marriage. They are Dante Bruschi, Tedy Bruschi Jr. and Rex Bruschi.

His wife also graduated from the University of Arizona. During her high school years, she was a champion volleyball player and joined college on a full-time athletic scholarship. However, she gave up her sports career to take care of her children and her husband.

Additionally, Bruschi is a spokesperson for the American Heart Association. He also founded a foundation to raise funds for stroke research inspired by his own experience. On July 5, 2019, he suffered a second stroke reported through his foundation Tedy’s Team. He also wrote his first stroke experience in 2007 in the form of a book ‘Never Give Up: My Stroke, My Recovery, and My Return to the NFL’.
